*shudder* God no, not Most Haunted..
I hate it. There's not one shred of truth in anything that they're doing. At the end of the day, something has to, and does, happen in every episode.
TV bosses wouldn't just let some 'ghost hunters' and an ex-Liverpool-footballer-turned psychic-medium traipse around old houses and castles if they were looking for 'real ghosts'. TV stations demand ratings, and ratings / viewers demand action.
If you were to visit those places and repeat the tests, or conduct new tests of your own, I sincerely doubt it would be as 'exciting' as the results they got.
The show would've been axed years ago if it was real. There's not an episode that goes by where that god-awful woman doesn't suddenly scream "OMG I'M SO SCARED!!!", or feel some 'ghostly presence' try to throw her over.
TV like this is for entertainment. It has very little to no real 'fact' or 'truth' about it. If you want real ghost hunters, go watch a documentary about it and see how many people suddenly 'start smelling roses' and 'a poltergeist pulls something over'.. Or whether they have some cooky footballer/medium screaming about his spirit guide 'Sam' telling him there's "GHOSTLY PRESENCES!!"' and "ORBBSSS!".
Gad.. I'm sorry to get so worked up about it, but TV like this really pisses me off. They're blatantly exploiting the public's interest in the supernatural, by providing them with a poorly-acted-out and badly-researched entertainment program..
Then again, that's all that TV's about now a days, eh? Ratings.
