ghost stories

For conversations and questions about hauntings and spirit visitations. This is not the place to talk about demons. In fact, this whole board isn't the place for it. A Christian site is a better place for that.

A true haunting story (Not even scary)

Postby briar » Tue Dec 20, 2005 9:05 pm

I lived in a house for almost 20 years. During that time, my Grandmother died in the middle bedroom of natural causes..

Every once in a great while - if you're in the room for more than 10 minutes you will start to smell her perfume. Kiind of like gardenias and sometimes her rose perfume. Even though, we all knew enough not to have any of it in the house.

Now the people living in the house don't use it due to the haunting. It appears she doesn't recognize them. The room is reportedly to be a storage space now.

Well, Aphrodite, here's my story: when I was a kid, there was a spirit of a little girl in my house. I remember she used to peek her head around the doorway of my favorite room and look at me, but she'd always run away with an echoing giggle as I looked up and saw her.

She never contacted me, just stared at me from the doorway. And she never contacted my parents either-- just me. :28:

I've had many encounters with spirits, and luckily none of them have been wanting to harm... there was one once, but he never took at any farther than being scary.

(Oh, and I've never heard of the show you guys are talking about, but it sound interesting!)

hi moon stone thanks for that story what was that scary man like? I would have had a heart attack  Oh and most haunted is a really cool show about the paranormal, they travel to castles and things like that and spend 24 hrs there, they do table tipping and things like that. They did a couple of shows in the US, one on the Queen mary which is now a hotel, that was a creepy one.
Keep them stories coming guys.

blessed be.

Hello Aphrodite,

So you want to know about the scary man? :28: Well I remember him being a very tall, dark figure. He projected negative energy (but also frightened energy) and would actually hang out in the kitchen most of the time. His thing was sneaking out from behind things then being right in your face. That was what made him the most creepy, I think. He seemed to be more the type who was frightened underneath and was trying to overcome that feeling by envoking feelings of fear in the people he haunted. My mom saw him once, but my dad never did- that would also help explain my theory. (My dad was a scary looking guy back then.)

I never confronted him- it was just one of those things I didn't want to do. He did succeed in freaking me out at times. :28:

Thanks for the info on the show- I'll have to check it out one of these days.

Ghost Shows

Postby briar » Sun Jan 01, 2006 6:01 pm

The two main ones that are on now are:

 Ghost Hunters - SciFi Channel
 Most Haunted - Travel Channel

My favorite of the two is Ghost Hunters because they don't rely totally on the psychics stuff. And use scientific measurements as well as logic to debunk a haunting.

As for the Most Haunted show: I'd have to say the show would be better without Evette as the guide. Why? Sometimes, she is so jumpy about the littlest things and can seem fake at times. The investigators don't take room temperatures while on camera - which would give more scientific evidence than a walkthrough for a baseline reading.. Also, just how many people does it take to investigate a room at one time? 6, 7, 12 or ? One nice thing about the show is that it does show us the sights of England.

I used to watch ghost hunters alot but they are just repeats now. they were good. I think the first few episodes of most haunted were crap, yvette did scream alot, but the new series is really good they are alot better now, they seem to get alot more facts right aswell.

HAA yea I did mean derek lol oops He rules. I could share a ghost story I guess. I got a lot but some will make me apear to be insane so i'll Post a little one.

My parents house is a really old house that is divided up into 2 apartments They lived in the dowstairs part. Well I was laying in bed one night and I heard something.. I listened really close and.. it was classical music! It was coming from upstairs. I thought it was no big deal till I discovered in the morning that no one lived upstairs.

My sister would also hear music coming from upstairs as well. She once put her finger to her mouth and said "Shhhhhh" and she then felt somthing put pressure on her chest like someone was giving her a small push.

*shudder* God no, not Most Haunted..

I hate it. There's not one shred of truth in anything that they're doing. At the end of the day, something has to, and does, happen in every episode.

TV bosses wouldn't just let some 'ghost hunters' and an ex-Liverpool-footballer-turned psychic-medium traipse around old houses and castles if they were looking for 'real ghosts'. TV stations demand ratings, and ratings / viewers demand action.

If you were to visit those places and repeat the tests, or conduct new tests of your own, I sincerely doubt it would be as 'exciting' as the results they got.

The show would've been axed years ago if it was real. There's not an episode that goes by where that god-awful woman doesn't suddenly scream "OMG I'M SO SCARED!!!", or feel some 'ghostly presence' try to throw her over.

TV like this is for entertainment. It has very little to no real 'fact' or 'truth' about it. If you want real ghost hunters, go watch a documentary about it and see how many people suddenly 'start smelling roses' and 'a poltergeist pulls something over'.. Or whether they have some cooky footballer/medium screaming about his spirit guide 'Sam' telling him there's "GHOSTLY PRESENCES!!"' and "ORBBSSS!".

Gad.. I'm sorry to get so worked up about it, but TV like this really pisses me off. They're blatantly exploiting the public's interest in the supernatural, by providing them with a poorly-acted-out and badly-researched entertainment program..

Then again, that's all that TV's about now a days, eh? Ratings.
