ghost stories

For conversations and questions about hauntings and spirit visitations. This is not the place to talk about demons. In fact, this whole board isn't the place for it. A Christian site is a better place for that.

This is just something else which makes me wonder how I will explain the "paranormal" to my children... :?
Ok. Here's my -2 cents. (I don't have children yet, so I don't know if it even counts) Wait until they've had some kind of experience, and *then* tell them.

Always remember to tell them that it's not like it is in the stories or in the movies! :D That they are subtle, won't usually hurt you, but can be scary.
Also, give them something to do that they can get comfort from when/if they do see a ghost... like say, hug the teddy bear, because remember those critters can be anchors to protective spirits.

Also, be sure to let your kids know that if they *do* have strange experiences, that you are safe to tell, that you wont' make fun of them, and won't laugh at them, etc. That's so important. One of the most scary things about being a kid in this day and age is those experiences you can't explain but can't tell anyone about.

Aw. :)

Yeah, mine are the same ages. My youngest got to witness something a little odd with me. He asked me what it was, and as I wasn't too sure I told him to tell me what it looked like. I think I posted it here, but I'm not entirely sure. (It looked like a smoke cloud. He tried to attack it a couple of times, and with no luck he just stood there watching it.) I don't want to lie to my children, but I don't want to tell them anything that will scare them either. Luckily my oldest was away at school at the time, or I would have had an interesting time explaining it, if he noticed.

Yeah, I know my mom "didn't believe me" when I was little, but she did! She just LIED to me about it. I was in HS when I found out that she knew. She told me that it wasn't something that was "accepted" so she didn't talk about it. I don't want to make m children think they're imagining things, or a little loopy or anything.

My youngest did see something, but he's little. So when it was gone, he wasn't worried about it anymore. For the most part there hasn't been any major activity around here in awhile, and my children haven't reported anything.

If he's see's anything again I'll deal with it at the time as I always do.

Another Ghosly Story For You.

Postby VisaRayn » Wed Oct 29, 2008 8:11 am

I have a few tales to tell about an old house that my family grew up in. THis house was old and rickety and had no indoor plumming in it. At one time, my grandparents, mother and several of her siblings were living at this house. Every time that they would come home from school, they would smell pumpkin pie baking, however with nothing in the stove.

No, that's jsut a little thing that happend there. One day, my grandmother was waiting in the front living room for my grandfather to come home from the mines. She was asleep on the couch. All of a sudden, a smothering feeling came over her chest. This was so strong that she had to roll onto the floor and crawl out of the room before she could breath again.

Every few nights at this house, you would hear the sound of horses thundering down the side of the house and on inspection, there would be nothing there. And all of the members of the house didn't care to linger on the staircase.

One of my uncles was on the second story of the house and looked out the widow. Out side he saw what he could only describe as two large glowing red eyes looking at him.

The most frightening thing happend right after my uncle Larry was born. They heard the cries of a baby comming out of the kitchen wall at 3:00 every morning that followed by 3 lound knockes on the door. This happened for about a week. Then my uncle Larry passed and the cause is still not exaxtally known.

This is in no way false or exaggerated.

This house was sold and the new tennants tore it down the 2nd month that they had it and build a new home there. I blame the spirits that were in the house. They blamed the lack of plumming.

Okay so when I was a little girl. I was very spiritual. But I saw things differently.

I was raised catholic so spirits weren't always viewed as something you want to get involved with, let alone talk to them. But I thought, I see them all over, I feel them when they're angry, so why not open myself?

So I did. When I was about 5 years old my family and I spent the weekend at this big hotel that we stayed at every year since I was born. It was basically a tradition.

But this time, we were put in a room and wing I had never even known was there.

So one day, my mom walked into the hotel room to see my sitting on the bed talking to apparently nothing (it sounds like a bad horror movie, I know. :) ) but anyways, she asked who I was talking to and I told her it was my friend angela. I then told her everything I found out about her. She was a 6 year old girl who had gone driving one night with her parents and brother, and there was an accident. Her parents died instantly but her and her brother were taken to the Intensive care unit at the hospital where they soon passed. She had been staying in that room and that's why she had returned. I was 5 years old at the time remeber, so all of this coming from such a small kid was a bit disturbing to my madre.

But she let it be, thinking it was just an imaginary friend. I took angela home and she went with me EVERYWHERE. And when she wouldn't, she would tell me where she was going. I remeber my mom asking me where she was when I was 6 and I told her she went to illinois to visit her aunt. I would tell my mom how angela went to places like boston and ohio and my mom would get so confused because I was so young and it wasn't very likely for a little girl who didn't even know her zip code to know about these other places. :) oh well.

Angela eventually grew out of me but I'll never forget my first spiritual friend. :)

Sorry if you guys were expecting somethin creepy!

Blessings to you guys. :)

Awesome story! Thanks for sharing it, GeminiGremlin (and thanks to everyone else that I didn't get a chance to respond to). I would love to hear more about what happened with your ghost friend. I just started a new section on the website so I can post people's ghost/spirit stories that they submit. I think it's good to let others know that they are not alone, that most of us have seen some kind of entity at one time or another. So many people are afraid to talk about it (I was afraid to tell my parents about the ghosts I saw around age 7. When I became an adult I finally told them.) I want to make it more acceptable to talk about these things by bringing it out into the light. So if anyone has any stories they would like to share, you can post them here and I'll add them to my Spirits and Ghosts section on the website so more people can read it. If you want me to use your story, please write it in a professional manner.

Spirits and Ghosts

Brightest Blessings,
