Naming my athame

Post by Ula »

I decided I needed to do this. I felt like there was a disconnect between me and the blade. I did a consecration ritual. I used just three herbs (white sage, frankincense, mullein), rainwater with salt and a candle. I winged the ritual not writing down anything. At one point I zoned and the words just poured out. Anointed the blade with a few drops of my blood (did not use the blade to do it) and then slept with the athame.

After a strange night I think I have my name. I am going to say it to the athame tonight and sleep with it again.

Anyone else name there knife/sword/ wands?

I haven't discovered the names for my sword, wand and a new dagger. My drum revealed its name the first time I used it. My crystal ball revealed its name when I was meditating with it and asked it if it had a name.

If you meditate with your magical tool, maybe it'll reveal a name.

My Athame did that after I posted on this thread .

Coven, that's wonderful!

Finding out the names of our tools is what I consider to be special. It's an entry for a BOS, a grimoire or whatever you want to call it.

As important and symbolic as the name is , I let it slip to the back of my mind until I read your last post where you brought this topic back into the new posts section and I actually had to sit here and think about it for a minute because the name slipped my mind . It's only the most important name in the world . I guess I probably should put it in the BOS .

I've never felt the need to get a wand but I saw them on Temu and they were so affordable that I bought two of them , they are really nice . I know the day will come when I direct my attention to them but for now they wait .

I had a strong pull to get my Athame but I never used it , it's always present but I never used it . I just used secret sword hand , but I was reading my Oracle of the Witch cards and it possessed me to start using tools like my Athame . I was using the same card deck again when it made reference to a wand in the witches runes card I believe it was . That's what possessed me to type in wand on Temu , because I'm always logged into Temu .
