Fall diy foods...
Watched some youtube videos for seeing making candied ginger and then made some, started with piece fresh ginger size of big man thumb.....cut into strips.....ended up bits to fill half jam jar EU size , approx 2/3 cup candied ginger.
My trial diy mustard is on hold, due to arthritis, but when possible continue the mustard...........
Mixed a hot cocoa blend 1/2 cup instant coffee powder, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, few tbsps muscovado sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon powder, 2/3 tsp ginger powder, grocery shop had no powdered milk, empty shelf so s/o buy coffee creamer powder as replacement but skipped adding it to mix maybe next weekly shop there is powdered milk for in it. No mini marshmallows either.
Baking is also on hold........and also waiting to try out new to me flat bread recipe seen on youtube video.

Attempt at making profiteroles from scratch ended up with a moon landscape instead of small ones like last time.

My wife and I have been making unleavened bread using greek yogart (250g), flour (250g) and some seasoning / spices. Takes about 12min in the oven.
It's nothing fancy but is quick, easy, tasty and leaves lots of room for further experimentation.

I have one I may have already shared here but it's a good yummy one for a Hallows treat and almost healthy!
CANDY CORN
1 can yellow corn
a mix of;
orange,
yellow,
& white carrots, chopped in about 1/2 inch pieces, boil until tender; (the color of the carrots gives the candy corn effect of colors)
Add corn to carrots then stir in and heat with,
1 or 2 tbs. butter
1 or 2 tbs. brown sugar (to taste)
Enjoy this sinful treat around the Samhain holiday or any time you want candy corn!

TRADITIONAL SAMHAIN DISH
One of my favorite fall (and into winter) foods, is Bubble and Squeak or Colcannon.
All you need is Potatoes, Cabbage and Onions...butter & milk.
Make a hefty portion of mashed potatoes, using milk and butter when you mash.
In an iron skillet melt some butter and caramelize a whole onion.
In a pot Boil a good portion of green cabbage (a 1/2 head or whole depending on the size of cabbage) and drain well.
Mix all three together and simmer slowly for a while. They are supposed to make the sounds of bubble and squeak when cooking but I have never really experienced that ! LoL
I tried this recipe with all purple vegies! and it is equally yummy.
Purple potatoes, purple cabbage, and purple onions
An alternative to colcannon that is similar and simpler is to use small potatoes, chunky chopped cabbage. and large chunk chopped onion. Throw them all in a pot cover with water and boil until potatoes are done. Drain and serve with butter on potatoes and Braggs liquid aminos on the cabbage and onions, YUM!
