I stand on the edge, peering down into the endless void of what my soul will become, and find myself caring less on a nigh daily basis.

I have worn many guises, and each guise bears its own hat. When I am in a good place I wear the brilliant white helmet of the hero, valiant and noble, brave and courageous.

When I am sad, I wear the hat of a man down on his luck, barely making ends meet, 3 days growth on my chin...

When I am ambivalent I wear a grey fedora, tilted rakishly to one side and I help more than I hurt, or at least I try to...

But...

When I go to the dark place that resides in all of us.. that place we deny as hard as we can and refuse to look at lest we see something that bothers us and shakes us... when I go there, there are no stars, no lights... just a seething blackness with serrated teeth that shred at your mind until something snaps and you slip over that edge, that precipice of sanity and glide gently into the embrace of lunacy and disdain.. that place where sociopathy and psychopathy dwells in us all... tonight I wander the dark and question why I ever leave. There is a certain level of peacefulness here where the light no longer reaches...

I agree that the darkness within holds a certain peace. It also becomes quite boring after a time, because the struggle to not tip over that edge no longer exists. For myself, prefer the darkness of a night sky, stars scattered like gems on black velvet. My true home lies there.

I. Did. Not. Harass you. I am the original poster and was simply giving you insight into MY thoughts. Just as before when I "donned my white armour and came dashing in" to tell you that, having had that rule explained to me when I made a similar mistake, the rule doesn't come I to play if they are giving background as it plays an important part in what the appropriate response to the situation is.

Now that this is in conflict resolution. If you are going to quote someone then say anything like "This doctrine", or "This statement", it grammatically refers to what you are quoting. Had you said "the original post", or "my post", instead of "This diatribe" I would not had seen it as you calling my words malicious.
