Questions about fairies

I am currently working on building a fairy house with my own two hands. I'm using clay, and river rock. Unfortunately, I had to buy the supplies, as I don't get out often.

My questions are:

1.) What gemstones, rocks, colors do they prefer?

2.) What colors/gemstones should I avoid?

3.) Is it true they like copper, milk, honey, and bread?

4.) What signs/things should I use for protection, if need be?

5.) What sign should I look for in a visit?

Oo - I love making fairy houses from odds & ends like a broken flower pot, washed gravel stones & tree barks or leaves, a small sun catcher, shiny beads, buttons etc.

There are so many different types of Fae by location & each has local customs & foibles, & are all sizes too. Some like sweets & shiny trinkets more than others. Some have a wacky sense of humor - others, er not so much.

1.) What gemstones, rocks, colors do they prefer?
. Shiny, faceted, sparkly
. Colors - earth-tones & jewel-tones

2.) What colors/gemstones should I avoid?
. Avoid iron; hematite & fools gold both have iron; anything magnetic

3.) Is it true they like copper, milk, honey, and bread?
. Tin & copper can apparently be tolerated by gnome-types who occupy those mines
. Some like sweets, some don’t
. Milk is food & doughnuts & caramel corn disappear fast
. Note - consider the risk of wild Fae on a sugar high & don’t look back

4.) What signs/things should I use for protection, if need be?
. Traditional lore says iron is disruptive to the Fae & a spade has a long reach

5.) What sign should I look for in a visit?
. Disappearing personal “treasures” of no monetary value

I'm making everything from hand, except the copper jewelry wire, clay, and supports. I may use acrylic paint to liven up the house with color

Ouch yes! good one Spirit, there is a place we hike that one must be careful not to wear anything of sentimental value they seem to grab those somehow on the walk in, or out. Although since we have been careful to leave an offering on the way in that hasn't happen as frequently.

also things to look for evidence of visit; plants growing where you didn't plant them, natural features appearing in the round like small ring of pebbles or twigs and leaves, toadstools in the garden, and mushrooms in circular formation.
There is a small damsel like insect that is green, I forget the name right now, but when I see them I know the fairies are near.
I would love to see pictures too!

So far, I've been working with air-dry clay since it is the closest I can get to natural clay. (The box says it natural, I'm not so sure, cause "natural" doesn't always mean it is.)

So far, I've got four walls of clay going, it's very thick, contains black river rocks, and a mix of naturally river rock that have color.

I had to 3d print the door, and supports for the inside, so the natural clay will have some support. The clay is very thick, and heavy. I'm not sure how well it will hold up outdoors.

The fairy houses is a creative idea and in the hopes of seeing them I have a dumb question to ask you. Have you tried resizing the photos to make them smaller before uploading them?

Yes I have, but it's really hard to do from my phone.

I have some Plexiglas I am think of using as the supports.

So, plastic is okay to use then?

I want to make a fairy garden in my front yard. I started it a couple of years ago, and then life kind of got in the way. I plan to get back to it when the weather warms up. I have to get a lot of retaining wall blocks. Once I get my wall set up, I can fill it with soil and add plants and dwellings. My grandson got a 3D printer for Christmas, so I may enlist his help in populating the space.

I have a birch bundle that I bought last month. It was calling to me. I think it's supposed to be part of the garden.
