Why Do Threads I Comment on Slip Down the List?
Looking at the list of threads I noticed
something odd...
The threads I commented on have slipped down
the list, so what's going on ? I'm starting to feel
like I'm a thread killer ! I suppose I could stop
posting so you all can get back to your threads.

I don't think you have a reputation as a thread killer Ms. M. Not that I'm aware of. Something I'm noticing is that most of our discussion and questions these days are revolving around some pretty essential beginner questions. That's not where you are in terms of your practice. I could be wrong, but that was my initial thought.
Re: Why Do Threads I Comment on Slip Down the List?
I think many threads have a very short life. Often, a new thread on the same topic will pop up at the top of the list. It is not you. Don't worry!

If you look at any forum in forum view (like this for instance) you will see "sticky post" titles toward the top of the forum (with the light bulb icon to the left of the post titles). These just stay at the top all the time, kind of as announcements, or information to be read first, or whatever. But then, you will see all the regular member post titles (with the round icon and little lines in them to the left of the post titles).
Note the dates of the member posts: in the left column, the date/time/author of the OP (original post) in the thread is listed (some go back to 2004!). In the right column is the date/time/author of the latest reply posted in the threads. Note these reply dates descend as you read down the list, with the most recent reply at the top.
So, when you post a comment on any thread, that thread goes to the top of the list. When someone else posts on any thread in that forum after you do, or starts a new thread, that thread then goes to the top. And so on.
That's it.
P.S. Since this is more of a general how-the-board-works kind of question, I did move this thread to the Suggestions/Comments forum, as others may be wondering the same or similar thing. Thanks.

Yes, MsMollimoz, it's just a matter of all posts being automatically placed in chronological order by the message board software, is all. Has nothing to do with anyone sorting/moving any posts.Myrth wrote:Often, a new thread on the same topic will pop up at the top of the list. It is not you. Don't worry!

That was a good question MsMolli. As Kassandra said, other people may have been wondering the same thing.

Well, I wondered the same thing when I was a new member here. I was like, "hey, where'd my post go?!" haha

Re: Why Do Threads I Comment on Slip Down the List?
It just seems to me, after I post on a thread
that's it, hardly any more posts...
That's the way it seemed to me as I looked
down the list seeing no one else post on those
threads. I just don't want to be posting on a
message board and have no other postings;
it went this way on another board. I was told
by a member that no one knows how to respond
to my posts, I don't want to go thru that again !

No worries about that, MsMollimoz. You're a valued and appreciated member here, dear.

I enjoy your posts. If I don't respond it doesn't mean I don't like a post. It is often because I don't have anything to add to the discussion.

Hey Mz...I feel ya.
Sometimes I don't care to go into detailed reply because more often than not it falls by the wayside.
I'm sure it's nothing personal, we even have a sticky that requests folks to chime in if someone is posting on their thread...like at least say thank you or whatever. I don't believe all members read all stickies *shrugs shoulders*.... what can ya do?

Re: Why Do Threads I Comment on Slip Down the List?
It can get discouraging at times when I look down
the list, I guess that comment made on other boards
stuck with me ??? About not knowing what to say to
me or comment afterwards...?

Hell, could it just cause they are bunched up ???
...and I'm just being sensitive ???
You know what ? I just had a thought hit me *ouch*
I need to get him out of here overnight so I can
smudge me and this place ??? Any thoughts ?

Smudging can help you purge the negative. Follow your intuition on this. Generally your intuition is right - trust it.

Humm, if you find a way to get him out, let me know...
Can you take yourself camping or something?
Down time can really help refresh oneself.
I just had the annual outing in the mountains...it was green and fabulous
