A year ago when I was working in the garden I realized that ornamental shrubs were dying. I wondered what was going on, and then I had a dream that night about a giant fungi with mycelium that extend through the garden. I knew the death was stemming from the stump of the old tree....in the last year the fungi have continued to come out as the oak retuns to the earth. Now I can see this amazing skull.
What's so cool is that the spirit and essence of the fungi is to decompose and transform....it is all about the cycle of life. The skull reminds me of the Victorian memento mori theme....reminding us that life is short and fleeting. I also think it's very fitting that the veil is thinning and we are on the waning part of the year leading up to Samhain and there in the garden is this great message.

I have a great picture and would love to put it up but I've never had success at posting images to these forums. Any pointers?
