Hello, I just want to ask if I can make any syrups, decoctions, teas with my herbs?.. I've tried to make a mint tea I just simmer some leaves until i scented the fragrance then I placed some honey with lime. Any tips?..
I have here Tarragon, Rosemary, and Mint. I also have marigold flowers around.
And which one tastes/helps best? Dried herbs or Fresh ones?
Thanks..
Please help me out, preparing Herbs.

Hi kuotetsu,
First, please be careful with dried herbs-- depending on where they've come from, they may not be intended for human consumption (like herbs from pagan specialty stores, for example.) The herbs can carry some bacteria from their handling/packaging that wasn't dealt with through sterilization processes used on things you buy in the grocery store. Whenever working with herbs for consumption, I always recommend using only the human-grade herbs found in grocery stores or using those that you've grown yourself. (And wash those first). -Only that way can you be sure you're dealing with "safe" herbs. (That said, there are many herbs not meant to consume... everyone, please know that you must know what you're working with before you eat or drink it.)
...Now then, so far as tasting better in teas, I actually like fresh best. There's a certain something that comes through living herbs that is lost once they dry up. Your mint tea recipe sounds quite nice- I've always just tossed the rinsed leaves in the water and let them simmer for about 8 minutes & was perfectly happy to drink as is (though lime sounds like a nice addition).
I think it's more an experimental process, making teas... start with what sounds good to you (as long as you're using safe herbs that are made for consumption), and let your nose lead. :28:
Bright Blessings!
