Well, I find it hard to believe someone would be selling stuff like that in such quantities if it were authentic. There are so many frauds out there. If you like the ring though, I say go for it, but I doubt it’s real.

On the other hand, if it is real, you do understand exactly what you would be dealing with, right?

mostly. . . yeah.. if it was real it would be hella scary to have a thing that only I can see following me everywhere.. but the wishes would be prettttyyy cool.. I would get used to it... but if it turned evil wouldnt know how to get rid of it.. that would be really scary!

Yeah that would be something I wouldn't be extremely interested in. I don't have a lot of use for wishes (except for winning a wicked lottery perhaps?) and I don't imagine most entities enjoy a life a servitude. I'd be bitter if it was me.

even the wishes would suck if they were corrupt by a djinn. i was reading somwhere ages ago that djinns feed on the greed of the wisher and the more greed in the wish the more powerful the being become and also the more greed the more it would corrupt the wish.

one more question what on earth does "hella" mean?

So, effectively, the djinn's moral alignment is based on the selflessness/selfishness of the person holding it?

I don't know about those. They sound wicked cool, but I don't like to bend things that have free will to my own demands. I think they really would be bitter towards their capture. I read that they have their own free will and that they can be just as bad or good as us. Depends on the spirit itself I guess. Though, if you could make it worth its while you might find a strong ally and friend? who knows? :D good things could happen just as well as bad one. I'd do some uber research before ordering it. Djinn are powerful spirits and difficult to summon even by an experienced mage - you are spot on about the reflection of the summoner's character, I am fascinated by them and the legends surrounding them. The middle Eastern people, in my area, who see me make the ward for the evil eye, I have pale grey eyes and it seems to 'set them off' My Greek friend told me grey/green eyes are Djinn eyes to them and I think they sense something they don't like about me or that scares them somehow. I'd like to ask one of them, but they sidestep and mutter and won't look me 'in the eye'. It relates partly to the times of the crusades, I've been told, many crusader knights had pale eyes and the folk memory of the cruelty the people suffered at their hands has stayed with them, that and the stories of demon worship and diabolical practices said to have been enacted by the Templars, I think. Haven't any of you seen the wishmaster films? They are cheesy but they rock!

What in odins name has happened to this place....ah well...releasing my wisdom one thread at a time....

You can't buy a damn djinn in a ring for 30 f*cking dollars, and if you could it would kill you upon being set out. Contrary to popular belief, the only reason djinn were ever contained was to punish them, and any actually wishes one would offer would end up as a "monkeys paw" wish

what popular belief regarding the entrapment of the djinn? i though eternal imprisonment/punishment was the only belief aside from the "story book" type version of the being

unfortunatly, too many witches accept the story book version as what it is without every truly looking up what a djinn really is.
