How can you tell?

How do you know your familiar? Is it something it does? Or maybe something you feel? I have no idea.

I dont have one, but something i read was that its a feeling, you will know when you find yours. Something ealse i read is there part of your personality, i am not sure if that is right though.

*draws a deep breathe
(where's ravenari - she could explain this SO much better than me)

My familiar and I are connected by energy - hers and mine. They intermingle and interact. I draw energy from her and she draws energy from me. Admittedly I use her energy more than she uses mine - no, scrap that - it's a two way thing - the energy from both given freely for the use of the other.

That didn't explain at all did it?
*takes another deep breathe

A familiar is an animal or insect that aids a person on their spiritual path in this plane of existence.
They aren't necessarily pets - not all pets are familiars. Familiars lend their energy to you to help you in magical workings.

You do not choose your familiar, your familiar chooses you. A familiar can be an animal, a mythological creature, another human, an Elf or Faerie..... Your familiar can be here on the physical plane or in the astral plane.

He/She usually comes to you when you are at a low point, and need help with something or need psychic assistance. Then once you have met, you will be able to communicate through your shared energy as Hedge does.

Trust me - when your familiar makes him/herself known, you will know it!

Have there ever been cases where one never meets their familiar, even if they try?

thats a good question
does everyone have a familiar (even if they dont realise)
when i was doing gardening about a year (or two) ago i always had a little robin that would sit with me or sit on the fence nearby as i was in the garden, id talk to him and hed stay there and i felt a connection with him.
but then i sort of went astray from my interests and got consumed by school etc and other teenage concerns. id sometimes see him on my way to school or when i looked outside my window but then i sunk even more into teenage life (this was a stage where i seemed to take a huge break from paganism) and i didnt see him again. i think about him alot and miss him. lol it sounds a little bit silly but i know you guys will understand.

Well i have a little sprite. It may sound dumb but i named her Thistle and she is like my familiar, like a gardian for advice and protection. she kinda guides me in times of need. it may sound like it is my imagaination but it is not, i really have a little fairy that follows me around and sits on my shoulder and sings when i am not moving.
