Black butterflies

Postby Ashrend » Thu Jun 01, 2017 4:36 am

Do they have any significance? I ask because for a few days I kept seeing them fluttering at the corners of my eyes. They have stopped now but I'm curious if they could of meant something or if I'm starting to go a little nuts XD

If they didn't interact with you, I can't think of any special significance just as black butterflies. The color black has it's place in nature, and butterflies or moths emerge this time year.

If you see shadows as if they were flitting like moths, that could be a light and rods/cones eye-thing.

Well, I'm not in the know on medical terms. Something to do with peripheral vision.

This is pretty UPG, but I associate black butterflies with Morpheus in particular, and chthonic deities in general. Like all butterflies they have ties to transformation, but many associate black butterflies with the transformation of death and rebirth, or the journey to the underworld, in particular. I believe they are also tied to Itzpapalotl, an Aztec deity, as well. (Might be another with more solid ties, but she's the first to come up on Google, so I think that's the deity I'm thinking of.)
