So today i performed my tool cleansing ritual. All morning there was a big blue beautiful butterfly with his wings spread on my screen door but i went out to dig up my tools, it was laying on my porch dead. I didn't know what it meant so I picked it up and I brought it inside with my other things. And as I was meditating over my altar my cat stole this spirit animal.
So there is me running around the house chasing a cat behind two couches through 2 living rooms mid-ritual. When I get this spirit animal back, it's clearly tattered. I felt really down that I had messed this up big time and then I just sat there ...and i started laughing because if this is not the most comical tool cleansing ritual that God and Goddess have ever seen.
So my question is what is the significance behind the butterfly if anything what is the significance of it now that it's tattered and been in my cat mouth? Lol

Re: Butterfly meaning?
If I were interpreting this as I would a dream, belly laugh aside, I see a butterfly, transformed from an earth crawling worm to a winged being of beauty, as symbolic of spiritual transformation, even in it's own death which is yet another transformation.
You brought it into the ritual space, or into your circle (if you cast one), which i see as accepting the spiritual transformation is within your reach, bringing it into the working space realm.
A cat, the witch's familiar, claimed It (cats never steal, they own). It claimed the transformed state as it's own, is just what a familiar does. It guards what it owns. It covers your back.
You chasing after the transformed being held by the familiar... If you want it, go after it. If you want transformation, go after it.
Also, think of how the caterpillar transforms into the lovely butterfy. Blue is a color associated with spiritual ideals. Let it show you. It is within your sphere. Claim it. Own it. Like the cat, claim what your soul owns.

Re: Butterfly meaning?
Sometimes..... Its a message or an omen, but sometimes,
Its just a cat and a butterfly, doing what they have been doing for millions of years.
