What is the connection between Wicca and a walking stick or a staff?
I carry a walking stick everywhere I go..
Depends on the occasion,
Am I doing something good or bad as a young and new witch ?

Re: Question about walking sticks
My staff or walking stick was my very first magical tool when I was about 14/15... I took it with me everywhere...well just about everywhere, my Mom wasn't too keen on it, but we lived near mountains and I was usually up there. It had symbols carved on it and some beads hanging off. I didn't really practice at that time, but there was something about my stick that gave me a great sense that I was connected to the All.

Re: Question about walking sticks
Hi guys,
I need to ask a question,
I have many walking sticks,
And I need something to infuse them with a magical power or be charged.
How can I do it?
Thanks,

New Witch...
I would imagine there's lots of threads here about making
your wand or staff magickal, I just cannot think of the right
words to search...any thoughts ?

Re: Question about walking sticks
The staff generally is as tall as the person's shoulder, plus elbow to fingertip. It represents the axis mundi, that connection of every place/time through the center point, the north star around which our view of the sky rotates, the world Tree with the higher-middle-lower world access. It represents the authority of the bearer to travel between worlds and is the connection linking the mundane to the higher and lower worlds. The wand and broom are replicas. What is the connection between Wicca and a walking stick or a staff? ?
As the two-pronged stang it represents the Horned God, and serves in men's mysteries. As the three-pronged stang it is the spinner's distaff, and the Tripple Moon Goddess, and serves in women's mysteries. The stang can be staff or walking cane length.
In any fashion, it is the portal, the threshold into other worlds, depicted as the cross roads. It serves as an altar and can be decorated for the seasons, and a lantern to mark the doorway of OOBEs. It is used to draw the circle, aka compass, in the dirt and to direct energy. It is a feature more of Traditional-Shamanic Witchcraft than of Gardnerian Wicca, but is present in the wand.
Re: Question about walking sticks
I once got lost in a forest that is sacred to me. I came across a random branch that the spirits were absolutely adamant that I take. A few minutes later I was able to find my way back to the trail. That staff has been with me ever since.

Oakheart, great relationship between the branch and finding your way between worlds.
