So back to my original suggestion then. Make another deal. I hope it works out for your friend. I'm curious to know how this plays out.

Well, I'm not sure if this is an avenue that could be pursued, but...your friend promised the Iwa his soul after this lifetime...and obviously the Iwa is meddling in this lifetime. It could be considered a violation of the agreement, if you end up in negotiations with the spirit. Of course, the risk there is that the Iwa will just choose to end your friend's life then and there to claim full ownership of the soul, I suppose.

This is definitely not something I deal with regularly, as a matter of fact, this would be the first time I've dealt with something like this, so take my advice knowing this fact. I suppose your friend has to ask himself what the Iwa would consider more valuable than his soul, and barter for it back...though I have to say, it might be a very steep price.

More opinions are always helpful though. If you can, contact more elders in your traditions. Ask them to refer you to other people they think might know something or who might be able to help.

You're Wicca and I'm Voodoo as hell. You might not believe that you can sell a soul, but my belief system says that you can. That's good enough for me.
You know what they say about assumptions ;)

I'm not Wicca.

So just because someone told you something you believe it?

For me spirituality was a quest to find the truth, not follow dogma, but I understand that might not be everyone's goal.

You cannot sell or lose your soul. Your soul is the individuation of God. Saying you can lose your soul is like saying that you can go and punch God in the face. When you understand what a soul is you realize how ridiculous the notion is. Your soul isn't even housed by your body, your soul houses your body.

Dude, the body houses your soul in order to allow it to grow. It acts like a butterflys cocoon in the physical world. Then once you die, you're soul is released where it joins the other spirits. There you are given two choices, you can aid the other spirits in running the world for awhile or you can be born again into another body where you can again walk the physical plane.

And you have come to this conclusion based on...?

If you want to know read the book I mentioned in the other thread, for me to explain it all would be a very long process as it would require and explanation of God, why we exist, the meaning of life, etc etc.

He made the same assumption about me in a previous thread lol.

I think everyone has different beliefs and no one is right or wrong... how the hell can we know for sure?? If someone believes they can sell their soul well then thats their belief...

Thats the way i see it anyway =D

I have zero knowledge of voodoo and its practices, however. This spirit obviously isnt the type to give the soul back willingly for no reason. HE has something and he knows it has worth, so there needs to a *reason* behind releasing it.

There are two options. One is to fight for it. Like i said i know nothing of this being nor your practices so this may not be viable or sensible.

The other option, like other people have said, is to give the being a reason to return the soul. Be that a deal of some sort (though obviously you would need to offer something of more value than his soul) or even a challenge with a promise of a greater prize if the being wins. Both are EXTREMELY risky.

You could try contacting the being and asking under what conditions it/he would be willing to release the soul.

Short of that you are playing a very dangerous game.

Sorry that I assume everyone is Wicca, but if you throw a ball into a crowd of us, you're probably going to hit one.

I'm a firm believer in the power of belief. If this person believes that the soul is something that can be bartered or traded, it can be damaging to them as a result. Whether their soul is actually "taken" or not can be left up to debate (and let's try to keep that debate nice, please, thanks), but the important thing is that this person believes it and is upset about it. That is the issue that needs help here.

No I didn't you misread what I wrote.

I have no problem with someone believing whatever they want, but to pass on to others a lot of this information which is misguided and not correct is different.

Which information do you see as misguided and incorrect?
