Really wierd freaky
Really wierd freaky
So here I was doing some meditation. Afterwards I lay down on my bed coz I was feeling a little tired out and needed a rest. Suddenly I started shaking. I wasn't cold and it wasnt like one of those shivers you get, it was as if someone was physically shaking me. It only lasted a few seconds but I was totally freaked out. Does anyone have any suggestions? We've lived in my house for about 10 years so I have doubts about it being a ghost since we've never seen any ghost activity before. Anything anyone could offer would be muchos appriciated
That has happened to me before and I've also heard Sylvia Browne mention it too. She said that when a spirit gets close to you, sometimes you can feel that shaking feeling because your energy is speeding up, trying to get on the same vibrational level that the spirit is on. When I was a child, I used to see ghosts. One time, one of them was walking over towards me. I was lying in bed. Of course, when I saw her coming, I covered my head, closed my eyes and started yelling for Mom. Then I felt someone literally shaking me, like she had just grabbed my shoulders and shook me hard. For years, I was convinced that somehow a ghost had actually shook me physically, but in my teen years when I started having night terrors, I realized that they were sort of related in some way. Plus, what Sylvia Browne said gave me a better perspective also. I can't say exactly what it is, but I can tell you that it does happen to other people and it's not your imagination, though I don't think it is actual physical shaking like I used to believe. I think it's your spirit inside your body shaking or speeding up.
It also possible that you unknowingly was stepping on the path to an out of body. One of the conditions is as if you're entire body is shaking or vibrating. From what I know, it is possible when you're exhausted and aren't actively thinking about something. You accidently reach the relaxed body and mind state.
It may be different than what you were experiencing. But in my attempts (still never got all the way) my entire body will feel as if it's being shaken loose. Unfortunately I start to get excited and start telling myself not to get excited... and lose the moment, blah.
Just my guess.

Things like this happen all the time when doing divine work. I always interpret as a lesson in losing control. Spirit shows you what it can do and that it always has control. In my opinion, it is an attempt to loosen your physical bonds to show the spirit within you. THink of the Hanged Man Tarot card, he does nothing until spirit tells him to cut himself down from the tree. It sounds like you are loosening your grip on the "Real" and opening up to greater powers. Surrender is key to the Hanged Man, perhaps it is a key for you. . .Soon the fear will wash away and you will be delighted when you lose control!

All my spirit contacts have been very tame. When I was a kid and even throughout my teen years, I recall very often seeing the spirit of a little girl looking at me from around the doorway. She'd come, stare at me long enough that I saw her too, then disappear.
Never had an experience like yours, though. It does sound quite shaking. (no pun intended.)

Were you focusing on your third eye? Something like that happened to me before while I was meditating in bed and the best way to explain it was that I had so much energy surging through me, I think I was convulsing. So here I was doing some meditation. In the land of twilight under the moon...
I think it would be a good idea to see a doctor before blaming this on something mystical or paranormal even if you do not have a history of medical conditions.
far too often people have situations such as this and automaticaly assume it's something paranormal when it could be a mild seizure or something similar.

I agree with vonigan. Its definitly possible you might have had a seizure or something. I'd seek a medical opinion and if that is discounted then you might be able to actually start thinking about it as paranormal, but I still have to say that I had a similair experience. I do tarot readings sometimes for my close friends and I open myself up, go into a kind of active meditation and do the reading. I was doing that once and half way through I started shaking so bad I couldn't flip the cards. I tried to take a deep breath and calm down, but I panicked and I just had to wait it out. It didn't last too long and I couldn't explain it. Sadly I was too scared to go to the doctor, so I can't say if it had a medical cause.
The world seems not the same

It's all my state of mind
I can't leave it all behind
I have to stand up to be stronger---Pale by "Within Temptation"

I know this is an old thread, but I have new information on the topic. Like Orion said in her(?) answer, the shaking or vibration is a signal that you are ready to go to out of body. It is a very common symptom of an OBE. Other symptoms include hearing voices, feeling a presence nearby, hearing loud noises like rushing sounds, a light or loud buzzing sound, being paralyzed, feeling like there is a weight on your chest, other unusual sounds, electrical-like sensations.
Sounds you might hear (from The Secret of the Soul by William Buhlman) - "buzzing, roaring, humming, footsteps, and thumping, as well as electrical, enginelike, and musical sounds of all sorts. "
Buhlman's other book, Adventures Out of the Body, is really good too. I highly recommend both books for insight into astral travel and validation of your own experiences.
Also from Buhlman's book, The Secret of the Soul:
"Intense Vibrations" (heading)
"Vibrations are a common element of the separation process and one of the most dramatic. They can vary from an intense inner earthquake to a mild electrical sensation... The inner vibrations and sounds are created by the same process: the opening of the primary energy centers, or chakras, within our nonphysical body
"... It initiates a tremendous flow of energy into our subtle (astral) body, creating an intense inner disturbance. After we complete the separation from the body, the inner energy flow and the expansion cease, causing the vibrations and sounds to stop as well."
"Being Touched or Pulled" (heading)
"....33 percent of people experience being touched or lifted."
"Two primary scenarios can cause this sensation. One is the presence of someone actually touching or lifting you; the other is our mind's interpretation of energy movement or shifts occurring within our subtle energy body. The key is to relax as much as possible and allow the process to precede, then focus your complete attention away from your body."
Sinking
"The sensation of sinking is widely reported."
I now know that sleep paralysis is an indication that you can take an astral trip if you want to. Many people work hard to get to the point where they can feel the paralysis or vibrations or other effects. If you are having these experiences, read the books I've recommended to find out more. Nowadays, there are lots of books available on the subject of astral travel. They all have good information in them that you will find helpful. You might think that they would all repeat the same information, but I have not found that to be the case. Indivdual experiences vary greatly in the astral and they are all fascinating. I hope many more people decide to start learning about this topic. I am fairly obsessed with it now. It's the reason I've not gotten the new forum up. I spend my time reading about astral travel instead of working on it.

I would say this is definitely either a Spirit getting close to you or you were about to have a conscious-exit projection, and if you don't know about either then you will find it hard to differentiate between the two.
I've had both experiences on a quite a few occasions now, and at first I was like "what the hell is happening to me?" I then started to practice OBE's and AP and realised what was happening, my Astral body trying to leave my physical body, causing a feeling of heavy vibrations and a feeling of being shaken.
Then I had the same kind of thing happen but only different, if that makes sense? I was lying down on my bed meditating when it felt like something had just touched my left cheek, I got this tingling feeling starting in my left cheek going right around my face and the whole of my head, then going through the whole of my body, this leading to the same kind of heavy vibrational feeling and also the feeling of being shaken. Only this time the feeling came with intense heat (especially around my face and head) and through my closed eyes, instead of seeing the normal black, darkness they filled with a pure, white light which lit up like a football pitch (only much more Divine)
It was a Magickal, intense feeling, and one I've learned is different from the normal feeling of leaving your body. Literally like you've been touched by something that is on a vibrational level much higher then you.
Don't be scared of this feeling if it happens again, just go with it, you'll be surprised what happens and what you feel
It can also lead to a Spiritual awakening in many ways.

Great experience, Enlightenment. I love hearing about stuff like that. I wish I had more time to spend here so I could gather everyone's stories and put them on the site. If anyone has a story about spirit contact or astral projection, please post it or email it to me if you'd like me to add it to the site someday. I'll post another one in my next post. I just wrote it up for a friend of mine, so I'll post it here for you guys to read as well. I may have posted it here before but if I did, I can't find it in the search.
Here is a ghost story of mine. It's rated PG-13 for sexual content.
Early this century (lol), my now ex-husband, Dewayne, and I went to Treasure Island, Florida. His mom, Lavenda, also came with us. We didn't reserve a room, so when we got to the beach, most of the hotels were already booked and we ended up finding a pretty old, cheap hotel to stay in. It obviously hadn't been redecorated since the 70's. It had a lot of green and yellow plastic furniture, if you know what I mean. There was a small living area, where Lavenda slept, and a bedroom, where Dewayne and I slept. There was a bathroom off the bedroom.
Very soon after getting into the room, Dewayne told me that he could see the spirit of a dead man lying in the bathtub and that there was astral blood all over the bathroom where the man had shot himself. I couldn't see anything, but this wasn't anything new with Dewayne. He saw things like this all the time. The only problem with Dewayne is that he tended to tell lies to get attention at times. I didn't really think he was lying about it, but I couldn't be sure, so I didn't take him too seriously.
That night, we went to sleep in the bed. I woke up after sometime because I felt that Dewayne was trying to have sex with me. I could actually feel his you-know-what trying to penetrate me from behind. He was spooning me. After about one second of feeling this, I jumped, startled. That wasn't Dewayne! That thing was much too small to be Dewayne's. Plus, Dewayne would never try to have sex with me in the middle of the night. He's not that horny. I knew what I had felt though! It's not easy to mistake the feeling that someone is trying to have intercourse with you. So I sat up quickly and looked over at Dewayne. He was facing away from me, towards the wall, sleeping like a baby. I suspected then that it had been the ghost from the bathroom, but things like that don't happen every day, so we stayed there another night.
The next night, just as I was drifting off to sleep, a face appeared in my mind's eye. I had never had psychic visions like that before so I was a bit startled, but not afraid. I knew that it was the man from the bathroom and he was trying to make contact with me. I felt a bit used from the night before, somewhat violated, so I opened my eyes and made him disappear.
The next day, I told Dewayne that I had seen the man's face in my mind's eye last night. I said, "He kind of looked retarded, but not quite" and Dewayne was already nodding his head, saying, "Yeah, that's him." The man's face looked kind of twisted in a way, but I didn't get the impression that he was actually mentally disabled. I think he was just really ugly and couldn't find love because he hated himself, so he killed himself out of pity. He thought he would try and have sex with me, but that wasn't happening in my world.
So that's one of my stories. It's definitely a weird one!
