Dragon Wicca

Postby Renshiin » Tue Feb 20, 2018 3:54 am

Hi everyone, it's nice to meet you! I have zero experience and very little knowledge about any form of Wicca, but I have been interested in it for a while now. I did a little independent research and found that there is a dragon path of Wicca. This in itself only pushed me to want to learn even more, and if possible, attempt to start this path. I have a great love for dragons ever since I was a child. Reading about dragon guides and dragon guardians, it would be so amazing to somehow commune with them, even more amazing if one chose to be my guardian and guide. I have read though that the dragon path usually is taught by Master to student, but there is no one near with such experience, or anyone of Wicca in general. How would I start down this path independently? I'm still a bit nervous about this and all about this, but I really want to know if there is more out there that can't normally be seen, if this life is more than just repeating the same thing over and over until the end of time. Thank you for taking the time to read!

My path is different than the path of Dragons. I do have 50 plus years learning and working with the Craft and Indian Medicine. I am around for general questions if you like. May I suggest you drop a note in the Introduction section so a wider group can meet you.

There is a popular-culture dragon path on YouTube taught by DragonFeather. She's pretty sensible but visually dramatic. My guess is there is also an occult system, complete with grimoire) that would be involved with teluric energies as spirit forces, and these are referred to sometimes as dragon paths. The Faery Path of the Anderson's would be a possible source that is highly respected.

Be wary of some of the grimoires out there. There is one in particular called Tiamats Grimoire that, although edjucable, is a bit advanced amd has you working with darker energies.

My intuition tells me to let you know to be very discerning on the internet as there are many paths and many destinations. Choose where you want to be in the future and work towards that. The internet can be misleading. Also, dragons are coming to you, so don't fret. You will be with them always.

I have read though that the dragon path usually is taught by Master to student, but there is no one near with such experience, or anyone of Wicca in general. Here are my suggestions on how to start:

1- set up a shrine. Note, a shrine and not an altar. A shrine is a place where you make offerings and offer reverences, and should be cleaned and kept well. Dragons are quite large, so outside in the mountains is best. After all, they live in caverns beneath mountains. The most important part will be the representation of the Dragon you’re interested in meeting. You can look at historical lore and myth to find specific names and virtues, or you can look into elemental correspondences. When you make offerings, don’t ask for direct communication, ask for passive guidance and protection along your path (it will help you to become comfortable with their energy). Also remember that Dragons are very proud, and it can be insulting to them if the shrine is half-assed. Also, if you do happen to live in the mountains, with a cavern or cave, don’t go inside. That’d be like walking into someone’s home without asking. Nor should the shrine be too close, because that’d be like pitching a tent on someone’s front lawn.

2- Research into what types of offerings Dragons like. Mythologically, they like raw meat, gold and silver, gemstones, and enchanted/magical items (the most powerful magic weapons are usually guarded by a dragon). Though some may enjoy other things. On the show “The Magicians”, the dragon collected baby teeth lol (but I wouldn’t suggest that, it’s probably not true).

3- make periodic offerings and prayers. Afterwards, meditate at the shrine.

At least, this is what I would do... I do not recommend that you actually do it.

Thank you for all the wonderful replies! I completely forgot to make an introduction, but I finally did in the appropriate area of the site. I will definitely be wary of certain grimoires, I don't think I'm ready for that sort of thing anyway with the lack of knowledge I currently have. I like the idea of making a shrine, but unfortunately I'm in the southern part of the US so there are no mountains, just lots and lots of forest, and it probably isn't a good idea to wonder off in the forest looking for such places, I would still like to make a shrine though, maybe possible in my home. I know in Japanese culture some set up little shrines in their home to show respect, I was thinking maybe something like that. I'm very much into the western style dragons, I found 2 little statues online that just called to me, they looked perfect. They were twin dragon statues, sold separately, one holding a sword, and the other holding a shield. I'm thinking about getting them and trying to set up a little mini shrine in my room. I'm wondering too if dragon's blood incense would be a nice offering to try, something simple that I could do since I don't really have the ability to go to such great lengths for location and offerings unfortunately.
