A Novel Life

Postby Wricker Dreadtemper » Sat Nov 11, 2017 11:51 am

Life is a book and there are a thousand pages I have not yet read.”—Cassandra Clare

------------------

Each day a new page meets the reader's eye,
each year a chapter ends, the next begins,
the moral of the story of our sins
is bound in leather—seldom cut and dry.
The twists of plot can make us laugh or cry
and turn the page on losses scored as wins,
a catalyst for grimaces and grins
until the day we close the book and die.

The genre switches periodically
from children's to adult-themed storylines,
from fairy tale to unsolved mystery,
comedic phrases to romantic lines.
The looming final chapter, most agree,
weighs extra heavily on well-read minds.
