Gods associated with swans?

Postby NP » Sun Apr 19, 2015 8:44 am

Hello! I recently visited a local thrift shop, where I get most of my supplies. I went in and just knew that I was going to find a god figure for my altar. I followed my instincts and found a small silver-plated figure of a swan. Do you know of any gods associated with swans?
Thank you.

Apollon is associated with swans, and Zeus as well, although perhaps to a lesser extent.

They're also associated with Bridgid and with Saraswati.

Are there any pantheons you've been curious about recently?

Hey Vesca- I've always been particularly drawn to the Norse gods and the Egyptian gods. I don't know if that helps at all. I'll also look into the suggestions, thanks you guys.

Aphrodite is often associated with swans. I don't know about any Egyptian gods, though.

From here, on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swan#In_culture
In Norse mythology, there are two swans that drink from the sacred Well of Urd in the realm of Asgard, home of the gods. According to the Prose Edda, the water of this well is so pure and holy that all things that touch it turn white, including this original pair of swans and all others descended from them. The poem Volundarkvida, or the Lay of Volund, part of the Poetic Edda, also features swan maidens.
Google is a great thing. ;)
