We've got a huge black walnut tree in our backyard.
Lady stir your cauldron well, chant your words and sing your spell
Come and taste of the cauldron's brew and magic she will give to you

Firebird...
Do you go there now and then ???
If so, I hope you can find one on the ground !?!
I would really appreciate it if you could find one !
I saw that Oak and Willow are attributed to Hekate
and I would just love having a wand of Willow and/or !

I always thought a wand must be made from a fresh twig...there have been one or two twigs on the ground in the forest I always take my dog for a walk and especially one of them seemed to urge me to take it home...wanted it as a wand but as I had read that they must be from fresh wood.....am I wrong?

Ha ha ha ...nay not. That would be a drive

I went looking for a place that was close to you so that you may go there to gather the branches.
I'm not altogether positive it grows there, but where there is water, it is quite likely. You can only get so close with google map!
If you want to know the name of the park, PM me. I didn't want to disclose your location by naming the place.

Not always, I think it depends on the work to be done.
Though, for circles cast in "feild" (out in nature) with no tools...gathering equipment from nature for your work is very satisfying.

It doesn't need to be freshly cut, although there are those that prefer it. You can use fallen sticks, sometimes freshly fallen is easier to work. Sticks that have been on the ground a while may be starting to rot depending on your environment. Should always check any stick for signs of rot, bugs, etc, of course.

Firebird...
There's an area nearby sort of, where there's a spillway/dam(?)
the last I heard it was closed off to the public after a fire was
in the area and area was covered by fire retardant, that was
a few years ago. I haven't been there in a long time, but thanks
for "causing the memory to re-surface" ! I only remember there
being Eucalyptus trees being there.
I have been feeling a need to get out in nature, away from this
city's limits, typical for us witches...I did read tho in recent buy
of numerology book, that those born on the 7th of the month
need to be in nature to recharge my batteries :fairy:
I should find the time to post here a synopsis what each date
means in that book-soon !
Thanks again

I think if you were to work with the numen, or the indwelling spirit of the tree, you would need/want a living branch as a bearer of the essence. Once a branch touches the ground, the spirit is said to retreat. Some staffs are made from living wood for this reason. To use the branch as an energy transmitting tool, it can be a fallen branch that is still green, and not falling to pieces and crumbling. And tree-huggers may prefer it so they don't needlessly injure the tree. So take your dog for a walk and go back and find the stick that was urging you to pick it up.

Thanks for your replies - now a lot is much clearer now! That stick was an old, dry stick, but it somehow spoke to me. It isn't here anymore, anyway. I guess I'll keep my eyes open for another one :-)

Yes! Thry actually can be pretty chatty, as is evident by the mass collection of mine. I also save every Yule tree. I'll cut off the branches and save those for fire starters and the the main trunk becomes a staff!

@mz Molli...there is another place not too far north east of you that has a largeish reservoir, (the narrows) there should be willow there for sure.

 I have the same problem with stones - every window sill full of stones, quite a lot of black ones. All of the somehow wanted me to take them home. I also found one I really liked but it didn't want to come home with me. And ther is one of them, a really, really dark, dense black one which has a lot of energy. It always hits me when I look at it. A protection stone, I guess.
