To Qualify in Spell Casting

Postby RobMack » Tue Sep 13, 2016 8:39 am

Hi
I'm very new to the way of Wicca, and to the Craft in this lifetime.
I have not been initiated into the craft, nor have I studied.
All I know is my abilities and my faith inside.
When is one qualified to cast a spell?
I am starting A Year and a Day study this week.
Any good wise words will be appreciated.

As soon as you don't need to ask yourself if you're qualified, then you're qualified ;)

Whether or not it works is another story haha :)

Only you can know when you are ready to cast your first spell.

I once knew a girl who waited years, yes years before casting her first spell.

When I started my path, I kind of dove in head first. I learned a-lot quickly but I also made a-lot of mistakes.

You will find your own way.
Lady stir your cauldron well, chant your words and sing your spell
Come and taste of the cauldron's brew and magic she will give to you

Questions like this usually get the "its different for everyone," or "only you can know when it's right," type of answer. I use to find it very irritating because I like things to be pretty black and white; I like to avoid answers that can be considered a shade of grey.

Read, reflect, and do as your heart instructs you to do, and the rest will fall in place :)

Blessings and happy casting!

Have you decided whether you want to pursue a solitary path or join a coven? Solitaries often do a self-initiation. With covens, my understanding is that the initiation is completed within the coven. If you feel qualified to cast a spell, try something small and see what happens. My advice is to trust your instincts.

Thanks,
I am also black and white with no grey areas.

I'd say it's when you recognize your responsibility for the outcome, then you're ready to give it a go. I've been in the Craft 30+ years and have done only 7 fully planned spells. 5 worked within 10days :D, 1 came back in a dream "refused" , 1 was interrupted at the critical "go" moment and I had to pull the plug. :anxious:

And every cotton pickin' time I've done a wish-spell, I end up with another stray cat, seriously.
I much prefer visualization to spell crafting.

I must be doing unconscious wish spells. That would account for my number of stray cats.

Count on it. I've got a new one living under my access deck. I know I did not consciously wish for this experience. so...I bought extra cat food. Sigh. Fortunately it's ferrel and does not want to gain entry...'course, it's not winter yet.
