Er... I suppose that has to do with your religion. I mean, if you're a Satanist, then you're on Satan's side. If you're a Christian witch, then you're on Christ's side. If you're a Wiccan witch, you're on the side of the Lord and the Lady/the God and the Goddess.

Bottom line - being a witch does not equal worshipping Satan.
Come, heart, where hill is heaped upon hill:
For there the mystical brotherhood
Of sun and moon and hollow and wood
And river and stream work out their will.

But just so you are aware, the Bible says that "a witch shall not suffer to live" (Old Testament). That means that a witch should DIE. Christians are basically against everything, so if you are asking this from a Christian perspective, then yes, you have joined the devil's side. That's what a Christian would tell you. But of course, most of us here are not Christian, except for the Christian Witches. They just ignore the parts of the Bible that they don't like. I used to not understand how they could do that, but I understand it now. They are "Christians" because they follow Christ, not because they believe in the Bible as the Word of God. Makes sense if you think about it that way.

Actually, , if you get a decent translation of the original Hebrew (instead of taking the Hebrew to Greek to Latin to English route of the King James Bible), the verse says, "Do not suffer a poisoner to live." which is slightly different. But then YHWH does add a bunch of addendums about what you can and can't do (divination etc).

I guess it just depends what you believe. If you think you are on the devil's side then you are.. if you dont think you are.. then you aren't.Just believe what you want to.

Magic is like the rest of life - you can live it on the side of good or the side of evil. In most people here's opinion (I guess) the Christian view of an 'evil witch' is wrong.

Sorry, I screwed up. The King James Version says, "Thou shall not suffer a witch to live." Yes, I agree that most of the things that KJV says are mistranslated from Hebrew, but that is what the Christians today believe that it means, so that is basically what it means to anyone who reads the Bible. If God was really in control of the Bible, why then would he allow for a translation that didn't mean what He wanted it to? (Christian way of thinking, not mine.) I was looking up that verse when I realized I had written it wrong up there, and I found this article: Thou Shalt Not Suffer a Woman to Live. It's about the witch trials and how women were persecuted for the sake of being a woman, if anyone is interested. Because, in case you weren't aware, most "witches" during the witch trials were simply regular women like you and I. Ok, well, we ARE actually witches, right? lol. Well, regular women like your mother then.

The King James Version is a bastardization of the original bible.

Not only did it make persecution of witches alright (they were ok before the bastard men go their hands on the bible.... sorry guys, but...)

But they also made women pretty much mens property, outlawed homosexuality, and brought down a great many other things that were ok. It's just the fact that a bunch of fat bastards that couldn't find their dicks (I'm really sorry guys, not all of you are like this, but it was a mens world, and they wanted to solidify their control.. the bastards) sat down and rewrote the bible so it said what they wanted it to.

I mean, even the Qua'ran isn't that bad. It's actually got science in it, and stuff like that. And you can disagree all ya like people, since we're at war with a nation of Islam (though I know your all open minded but it's the media stereotypes that make us think Islam is bad) I've interviewed two separtae Muslim people, one practicing, one not too much practicing, and asked them about it.

It's interesting once you get into the nitty gritty.

NOt that I'm trying to turn any of you. I still couldn't handle that conformism there...

just putting in my... piece of mind...

now i'm off to find a fan.. .Im dying of heat here... and that's a surprise....

As a WICCAN (emphasis on that word, as you can be a witch without being a wiccan), I don't believe in Satan in any case.
But, as an answer to your question, whether or not you are on Satan's side, i.e, evil depends on the spells that you do.
If you are using magick to help people in need, if you are using it responsibly, then you ARE GOOD, however if you do the exact opposite things to the ones I mentioned- mess aound with free will, use magick irresponsibly, etc, etc, you might have some trouble in the morality dept.

I have to agree with . But in the end I think it is all about what you do with what you have. Are you going out of your way to hurt others? And all of that aside. At the end of the day you need to be at peace with your self and your actions. I believe in Karma.
