I recently returned from a chinese camp, while at the camp there was a lightning storm one night. No thunder or rain, only lightning, and it was freaking everyone out. Before I had left I was looking into storm spells and I had created words of power to use during the rituals. Because I didn't have anything I needed for the ritual itself, I used some of those words, I wasn't able to draw energy from anything but a few pieces of my jewelry and myself. Half-way through it, my head felt as though it was being split open, and afterwards I was drained physically, emotionally and spiritually. I had moved the storm quite a ways away, but when I stopped, it moved right back in.
I was still in rough shape for a few days after, and I'm still dealing with some aftermath (being that my solar plexus chakra was already damaged, it's worse now). I'm curious if anyone else has tried this, or felt something similar after doing something very... drastic so to speak?
Halting A Storm
Re: Halting A Storm
Hey there. I play with storms all the time and am very fimilular with the energy drain that comes along with it. Pretty much you out did yourself, exhausted yourself. You didn't have enough energy to fight the forces of nature and keep it help off, but it sounds like you did quite a decent job.
Have you ever done this before? Personally I love working with and against a storm. Even if I do end up drained lol

I find that all spells and rituals drain my energy, I think it is quite natural for you to be drained when a spell is performed. That is definitely an indication that your spell is working. And in your case, you can definitely see that your spell is working.
Storm spell is very cool, because you can definitely see the results immediately. Now, every time when I see a storm is coming, or when a storm is suppose to come, but stopped shortly, I always thought maybe some people in my area performed a storm spell.

Hmmm... I just want to give you and everyone here a heads up. Weather magick is incredibly tricky and complex magickal work, not just because you are indeed manipulating the nature but also because one needs to be very careful when petitioning weather spirits or entities to produce a specific result. Sometimes what you think is best is not what the land, plants and animals need. Despite popular belief, plants don't just need rain, sunlight and carbon dioxide. Plants need lightning and storms too. Plants need nitrogen to grow and although it is the most common gas in the earth's atmosphere, it's can't be used by the plants. Lightning processes or fixes atmospheric nitrogen (N2) in the air to transform it into forms plants can use like ammonium nitrogen (NH4) and organic nitrogen (C-NH2). Halting a storm or even lightning at the wrong time may ruin some plants completely.
My recommendation is that if you want to perform weather spells and rituals, you need to get to know the land and weather spirits and work synchronically with them to know what to ask for. Many weather spirits tend to be volatile and temperamental such as Oya, Yoruba Orisha of winds and tempests and Shango, Orisha of thunder and lightning and will sometimes grant requests unaccountably that actually aren't in the best interests of the land, just for the fun of it or just to see what happens or just to cause obvious consequences elsewhere to teach you a lesson about the interconnectivity of the world.
Sometimes lightning and storm needs to be appreciated too to realize how huge and awe-inspiring nature is. As frightening as they are can be, they can also be a gift: a way to shake off our ordinary life and look at the world –- in all of its beauty and complexity –- afresh. Thunders are too noisy I know, but even looking at its lightning in the sky –- can help sooth our souls and appreciate the beauty of the world around us.
Sorry if that seems a bit heavy. I just like to encourage people to contemplate first before doing weather magick because many don't understand the real consequences.
And about the drain of energy, yep, it is to be expected. This is why sometimes, I perform simple happiness spell after some magick casting and weaving since happiness doesn't drain your energy. It adds more!

I liked your point Seraphin, it's essential to take a look at the land around you before working with the elements like that, nature is meant to happen and if we distrub it too much a lot can change.
Myself, I usually increase the storm or stop it briefly just to have some fun, then allow it to continue on its path
