Strangest flames during Banishing Spell. Divination thoughts

Strangest thing keeps occurring with my "Banishing Bad Spirits" Candle. Let me note that over the past two days, I have felt fine. In fact, I feel more lifted everyday. So it could be working, but I do not want to take any chances with such a black candle spell done on such a powerful lunar eclipse- waning moon in my house.

I am supposed to repeat this every night during the waning moon until it burns out-- but as you will see, the flame has extinguished twice already. What are your thoughts?? Please share, as I am not sure what to do tonight and henceforward with this candle...

Here's what happened:

Over the past few months in have been experiencing major negative events, loss of a friend to death, loss of another friend relationship, loss of personal relationships, strange headache, strange physical pains, break ins, etc. To the extent that I am in serious need of negative energy clearing, or suspecting even a curse-though Im not aware of anyone who would want.

This past weekend, it was the lunar eclipse with the moon in my astrological house. I performed a group meditation blessing with a spiritual leader to allow new things to come into my life and go without fear to what I want.

After the meditation, feeling cleared and in a great aura field, I purchased my first premade 7 day candle titled "banish bad spirits" with the description "banish bad spirits & remove obstacles" written at the bottom. This was at the occult store, handmade by the occult store, where I had performed the previous meditation/ ritual. I was told by a candle expert (though she is not Wiccan and we differed in a few viewpoints) that now, with the moon, would be the perfect time to do the spell.

I got home, saged myself and my place, purified my tools in saltwater, anointed & charged the glass candle, put it in a fireproof bucket of salt water. Then, I ripped a piece of thick (I think recycled or manmade) paper from a new manmade journal I liked and wrote down "I banish_____". I included a bunch of things all under negativity ie: "I banish negativity. I banish negative occurences. I banish negative people...etc... I banish negative things for myself and those I care about.... etc". I proceeded to light the candle, rolled up the paper/folded jt, and dropped it in the flame.

well.... strangest thing happened! The paper caused the flame to immediately grow so big it was nothing short of magnificent. The flame was almost as tall as the large glass candle itself. I couldn't take my eyes off it, until I had to get a glass of water out of fright the candle would explode or something would catch on fire. I mean huge flames, that lit the entire rim of the candle, flickering, dancing, crackling ALOT. The entire top of the candle glass turned black. The candle cracked-smoothly, actually, and candle wax ("tears") were leaking from the sides and forming a big layer on the water. it kept going, and though I was scared it was fascinating. My first instinct was , "Wow! Powerful Magick at work. This is working!" Then, the candle suddenly went out.

I noticed that the paper got mixed with the wax. It is completely charred black (the candle is black but had a little bit of pink on the top) but the paper remains completely intact. (Logically, I probably folded it too tight and now it's got wax all over it, so the flames are latching on and thus growing really big, but it's not burning through the paper at all)

Anyway, I repeated it last night since the moon was only in my house for 2 nights. The flame was much smoother, though still pretty high, and again strangest thing! It started growing, and I watched from a distance: I saw a man with a red head thrashing in the flame! Like going insane, or trying to get out, or crazy dancing. Not sure what... then it changed to what looked like a bird or a phoenix for a few split seconds, going back and forth to the crazy man!
Then the flame got a little bigger before suddenly, completely going out again! ALOT of smoke. Going mostly left (Though a slit of the window on my left was open). My paper is still intact. Currently, the candle is only 1/3 burnt (though pretty fast burn). I have not closed the circle yet. I was planning on continuing it every night, but did not think the flame would estinguish itself. Since this is a BANISHING spell, it could mean entirely opposite of other spells-- it could be a good thing-- but I just don't know.

Not sure what all this means. I researched alot on candle flame divination but nothing pertains to a waning moon banishing spell. Are the divination opposite if I'm trying to banish things? Should I keep going or stop? It could be my own spirits putting out the flame to protect me, or it could be that there has been so much negativity that the spell is having a hard time battling other negative forces. My instinct tells me to pursue it until the candle is done and negative obstacles are removed-- but this is very powerful stuff and I don't want to be wrong and read the signs wrong. Note: Again, I felt fine yesterday and even a little better today...

I have no idea what to do with this spell from this point forward and don't want to hurt anyone or myself, but also don't want to leave a spell undone and in limbo with the universe.

Any thoughts?? Just very strange things have been happening in my life, and even the banishing candle itself has been very strange....

UPDATE: Being that I have felt consecutively more lifted, I have decided to continue lighting the candle every night. However, it keeps going out on me! Faster and faster each night, actually. I just tried twice tonight-- and it went out both times within five minutes. Are these obstacles or signs? Hm...

With most waxing moon spells, if the candle goes out it is generally a sign that the spell is over. I have used my instincts and ignored this---since this is a waning moon spell, feeling that it has some pretty bad spirits that it is fighting against, since I am feeling more lifted each time. I am thinking that it is just the placement of the paper that is preventing oxygen, but should I take the paper out? Again, it is still intact-- though getting more charred.

From my experience, things seen in the flame when burnt, or for a banishing spell, represent the thing being burned - so it's likely your man with the red head represented the thing you were trying to banish.

Thank you Ash, that thought did occur- and I am glad to think of it as most likely a good sign.

For those who aren't familiar with Candle Flame Divination: (Clarifying what I said above):
Generally smoke to the left = too much emotion put onto spell, bad sign, obstacles, stop the spell.
Flames very high: Powerful magick
Crackling flames: Spirits and outside energy at work, affecting your spell
Burnt glass: Very negative forces at work
Cracked glass: Usually a bad sign

But keep in mind the above usually pertains to spells to get what you want-- not spells to get rid of what you want. Hence, the uncertainty in my proceedings.....

I always suggest that the mundane must be ruled out first -- what kind of paper are you using? Maybe you accidently dripped something onto it? Or the ink you're using? And such...

If, after significant logical evaluation, the candle continues to display this unusual burning, them turn to magickal approach.

I'm glad though that you give attention to the flame. Many people don't as few realizes that they could find important messages or signs in the flame. What you have stated above are all true and I believe works the same for all kinds and sorts of spells.

Humans words, expressions of approval or disapproval, love or hatred, definitely affect the molecular structure of fire (and actually even water). I have experimented on this by burning paper containing negative words on it, and the fire reacted the same way as you described -- flickering and crackling, like it was alive. It was as if the fire could read my thoughts. Though, this could also mean that the spell is being met with resistance.

Try burning the same paper but with positive expressions and emotions to it and then look into the flame again, see if there's a difference; see if the candle will burn evenly and steadily.

The red head man as Ash suggested could be the person to whom the spell was indented and now starting to "banish".

I suggest continue doing the spell and continue observing.

As I put in my update-- I have continued the spell with little success. It just keeps going out! Since this is a banishing spell I did not put things I want in my life on the paper-- I put the words "I banish negative energies, I banish negative occurences" etc etc.

Thinking of removing the paper, opening it, and lighting it over the flame?

These are alot of signs to ignore... hm....

Well I'm not actually suggesting you to perform the spell when I say "try burning paper with positive things", just burn it normally to see and confirm if its really because of emotion or thought emission.
