Year and a Day Planner

Postby asthesunlovesthemoon » Mon Feb 23, 2015 10:18 pm

Hi everyone. I realize I've been gone since last year. Life has been crazy, but I'm taking it one day at a time.

I want to start my year and a day this summer. I know I should have done it when I was first starting out with Wicca, but there's still a lot I have to learn and many things I have to do.

I'm trying to plan it out so I can make a video on my YouTube channel and a post on my tumblr blog so it's kind of like a guide, I'm just not sure where to start. I brainstormed some ideas for days, but I feel like I'm not quite getting the concept of a year and a day with them:

1. Connect with earth
2. Connect with water
3. Connect with air
4. Connect with fire
5. Meditation
6. Set up astral journal
7. Astral projection
8. Lucid dreaming
9. Book of shadows
10. Charm bags
11. Spell writing
12. Honor your ancestors
13. Book of shadows
14. Beliefs
15. Cleansing yourself
16. Cleansing a space
17. Analyze the Wiccan rede
18. Chakras
19. Meet gods
20. Meet goddesses
21. Connect with animals
22. Magical name
23. Trees
24. Totem animal
25. Crystals
26. Crystal grids
27.make a wand
28. Runes
29. Pendulums
30. Scrying
31. Morality
32. Letting go of past instances

If you guys could help me brainstorm more, I'd be grateful. Also, if you have any ideas, please share.

Blessed be.

Part of the year and a day idea is... you are the student, not to say you can't teach...many teachers learn the best lessons from their students.
If you are going into this from the perspective of the student I would present stuff that was associated to the place on the wheel that you are currently in.
Look at your list and decide what you feel is most important to present first, list them in order of importance or relevance and start there.
Your first entry could be about what you are going to cover and when. I wish you luck.

I guess this depends a bit on how much you've already learned and studied, but it might also be worth mentioning that some of those subjects are going to take much longer than a day to really research and have success with. Like finding a magical name, studying chakras, connecting with elements, meeting with deities and totems and the like, those are all often long processes in themselves. The year and the day doesn't really have to be a different thing each day, I know you're wanting to also make it be sort of a guide, but I think if you have things too structured it can detract from the overall experience.

I found this awesome book called Wicca: A Year and a Day by Timothy Roderick. Definitely helped.

I'm planning on keeping entries on my blog and a YouTube series thing so other people can do it with me, not really trying to teach them.

Thank you!
