All muddied up?

Postby dragonflygypsy » Thu Feb 26, 2015 1:20 pm

This is the best way I can put it—and I’ll try to make this as “rambling”-free as possible. ( I also hope this was the right forum for this). But let me give you some background first. I was raised Protestant Christian-ish. When I was a child I did some things like astral projection, shielding, and such without even really thinking about it and I’ve been doing “kitchen witchery” for a lot of years without realizing that’s what I was doing. Over the last few years I fell out of practice with it though and didn’t really think about it.

Then I had a sort of crisis of faith and struggled with the Christian God and some of the principles of that religion. I felt like there was a divine but that the Christian God couldn’t be it (for me). So fast forward, recently I decided to embrace that feeling and I have been. Still nailing down what my exact path is, but the closest I have found is pantheist pagan. I am much more at peace with myself about it now. I’m not “out” to my family but that will come with time, as will getting back into a better harmony with nature and life.

So now my issue is this. Lately, in the last month or so I’ve noticed there’s some kind of negativity “muddying” up the clean air in my home and it’s messing with my family. (Not a spirit but a …force…or something like that). There’s snippy-ness and general lethargy and apathy. It’s affecting all of us—the dogs, the plants, the people. I’ve even found myself having to back up and say “Whoa, I’m sorry I said that just now.” I feel like it’s gradually been getting thicker over time, so that I can almost physically feel it. So I’m wondering if anyone can point me towards a good cleansing spell/ritual or something I can use to clear things out. I don’t do deities really but I could modify something and personalize it for our situation. Thank you for any help!

Your living situation and beliefs will determine which method is best for you, but I would recommend doing both an inner (bathing) and outer (home/territory) cleansing.

If you have pets who won't struggle too much, it might be worth giving them a bath in the same time frame as well. Couldn't hurt.

A basic cleansing bath includes salt in the bath water. Any extra oils are herbs are up to your discretion and the attributes you associate with them.

I used to do smudgings; sage burning in and out of the home to allow the smoke to absorb and carry away the negativity. It was effective, but my spouse has asthma and doesn't react well to it.

Now I'm a bigger fan of cleaning the home (sweeping, cleaning the windows, washing the floors, dusting, etc...), placing salt water droplets in the corners and burning scented oils in the two major rooms where I find are the busiest areas of the home (living room and kitchen).

There are other methods, but those are the ones I can vouch for personally.

Thank you so much Vesca for your reply! I am going to do the baths and the home cleaning methods you described over the next few days. I'll post an update Monday or so. Thanks again!

Happy to help. :)

Oh, and one point. As you're going through the motions, visualize and feel the positivity. You have to carry it out with a positive mindset, so don't allow any of the negative muddiness to seep into your thoughts.

Sure thing! I plan to do a personal bathing/cleansing first thing to help with that.

Hey I just wanted to say thanks again. I believe I've cleared out most of it and even yhe little mini rose plant the hubs got me for Valentines Day (that I thought was just about done for) is shpwing new growth now. There are some lingering attitudes but I have a house full of mostly preteen boys so I can't have everything I suppose. Anyway thanks again!

Glad to hear it's working out. :)

Don't be afraid to redo the process as often as you need to.
