Meditation for the hyper, anyone?
Ok, without getting too off track. Bcuz I do at times. I will admit I am a recovering perfectionist. Lol I am super efficient in any type of research from the most boring to most exciting. I love Memorizing quotes, info, symbols and reading and searching for knowledge and am almost addicted to finding out more. At times I have to check myself and move on or I will dwell on things. But, I am HORRIBLE at meditating. I am driving myself nuts trying different things; teas and herbs (Chamomile, lavender , and like) experimenting with different times of days, positions, clothes on/comfy clothes/clothes off, music or none. And different types from instrumental to drumming and beats, and I just simply cant. I find myself trying to memorize the beat, counting things, remnants of the day popping in, problems, My mind races, my once closed eyes *pop* back open with a thought of the of the day. I've even had recent trouble.(last couple wks) in strongly visualizing now. Does anyone have any advice for someone in a situation like this?
Thank you in advance for any advice! (If anyone needs more info or has questions feel free to msg)

The best thing to do with mediation is focus on just breathing at first and making your mind blank. When I first started meditating I would think of a blank white sheet of paper making my mind just like that and think on my breathing in and out ONLY after a good workout so I it was like my cool-down time. It's the first step to being able to meditate efficiently. Music at least for me is to much of a distraction because then you start to think about the cords and tune of it. I Eventually made a meditation room, with incense, cushions etc... a place closed off to the rest of the world for the quiet (you can repurpose an enclosed closet for this if you are easily distracted).
You cannot focus if you allow yourself to think on other matters. Self- control is key.

@ Adastra: Thank you so much! I will surely try making a special place specifically for meditating. I will also try the blank sheet of paper, thats new also. I greatly appreciate it!
