"Reaching Out"

I recently was browsing through threads and came upon one by Snowcat thanking Kassandra and Firebirdflys for their support in a painful tooth operation. (Can't remember where I saw it, sorry) Snowcat mentioned her "reaching out" and feeling Kassandra's presence. I've heard this term before and I've never really payed attention to it, but for some reason this thread caught my eye. (Possibly because I want to see a blue firebird on my knee, too!) So what is "reaching out" was-and how do you send your presence to somebody?

Have you ever had emotion that was so strong you'd swear
everyone else could feel it ? It's actually sending energy to
another, build up emotions and then picture the person you
are sending this to. Build an "energy bubble" in-between
your hands and then blow the energy into it and send it on
it's way to that person. At least, that's how I do it, don't
know about anyone else ? I would imagine others will chime
in with their method and we'll both learn something !

Wait, now that I think about it I've done this before. A psy-ball, is it called? No? I wasn't very successful with it, though.
