law of three

Postby nightstar » Thu Nov 20, 2014 6:24 pm

The law of three or three fold law. Everything we put comes back to you three fold.

My question is what does this mean to you?

Harmony Love on you tube says that this means that it will affect you mind body and soul. Which makes a lot of sense to me but was curious about others opinions.

I personally don't believe in the threefold law, though I do believe that based on intent anything has the chance to come back to you equally in kind. I hold to Murphy's Law to be honest, anything that can happen will happen like it or no. I believe Thought is a big player in many things (negative thoughts bring negative actions and vice versa). The effects can vary from person to person and whether they affect you mind body and soul depends on if you allow it too.

I think the threefold law affecting mind, body and soul is an interesting idea. I've always thought it affected a person in the sense that they would suffer the same degree of harm that they caused on three different occasions. I'm not sure if that's the case though and I'm open to other interpretations. I'll have to give that further thought. Do you mind if I pose this question to my Facebook pagan group?

I don't really believe in the law of three, at least not as a specific thing. I certainly believe that there are consequences, both good and bad, for everything we do, and perhaps that's similar to the underlying idea behind the law of three. However, since the universe is a complex place I don't believe in a strict good for good, bad for bad interpretation, either. I think it's the sort of thing where the details of a situation really matter.

The law of three means to me not that it comes back to you in mind body and soul but almost like...
A more intense karma?
It's a Wiccan thing though, not all Witches believe in it (then again, not all Wiccans believe it either). Hope this sort of helped!

No, I don't mind at all if you pose the question to your group the more the merrier I say. It actually helps me figure out how I feel about things. This just happens to be the thing I am working through at the moment.

nightstar, the comments so far are as follows:

Mandy: Its the wiccan three fold law., so doesn't mean to much to me xx

Amanda: I am have alway been a good person and rules smothers me.
I really believe in balance.
I don't want to harm anyone but it's because that is me, not because of the 3x law.
That's why I knew wicca wasn't right for me.
I like my values.
I treat people with respect.
I think it's fine if people choose to follow the three fold law.

Tempestt: I've always believed in the the law of three before I began studying Wicca. I believe whatever you do onto others will come back at you whether it's family, friends or children and effect them in some way. Whatever it may be in your life. Our actions reflects our love ones. It doesn't have to do with Wicca/paganism per se it's embedded in everything that we do.

Mandy: Karmic law then? Its all to do with human morals really in whatever belief system you follow.

Morino: Occult-wise it means that you'll receive 3fold back of what you "sent out",specifically black magick sent someone innocents way.someone who didn't deserve it.

Morgen: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This also works for energy you throw out there. The energy can build based on what happens along its journey back to you. The Law of Three is not just a "Karma's gonna get you if you are naughty" rule to force us to behave ourselves.

Melody: To me the three fold law mean whatever you put out there either good or bad will come back to in in three times. So I just try to stay positive to my beliefs

Lisa: To me it means there has to be good intent in what u do for someone, if there is ill intent it shall come back to u as something 3 times as bad as u intended. Some wiccan's believe it some don't. I do there is enough bad in this world

Verdandi: I personally don't believe in it, im more of a do what thou wilt type.

Sharon: I feel, what you give out, whether positive or negative, towards a person, or living being, will be returned to you, threefold. I think, if like I sent out actions of loving intent, etc, I will receive love of other forms in return, but not nessessarily in the exact same ways, but love, nevertheless. If I caused harm, or and act of hatred towards another living being, this includes the animal and plant world, as well as our precious earth, I will suffer some loss of some sort, whether it would be emotional, mental or physical.
All in three fold, either way.
It keeps us, and our lives in balance. If you tip the balance in a negative way, it takes three times to make it balanced again. If you give in a positive way, it needs to rebalance the same way. It's the law of physics....

Gayle: What you put out there whether it be positive or negative will come back to you 3x.

Witchy Echoes: Every time I hear this I think of how my mom always said 'things happen in threes' ex: when there is a death you will hear of 2 more...I think coming back to you 3fold means whatever you PUT out to the universe those intentions will come back to you 3x STRONGER whether positive or negative.

Dawn: I'm Wiccan and believe good or bad you get everything three fold! What energy you send out you get back! I don't believe in being good just to get good things in return! It just feels good to do good!

I hope these answers help you. I'll post more as they come in.

I am not Wiccan but I think the meat of it is this: everything you do good or bad has consequences. Take the time to think through things before acting. And yes at times things will backfire on you and good or bad it will affect body, mind, and soul as all three are parts of your whole being.
