Complexes towards my Craft

Postby Triskelmoon26 » Thu Jun 26, 2014 7:57 pm

Hi people !
I never wrote something on a forum, so I'm gonna try to make it short and clear.
So, I've started to make circles with two of my friends which have comfortable energies. Unfortunately, we're not really regular and professionals  But that's not the point.
The point is : I feel weak ! I mean I feel like I don't have enough intuition, enough power, enough compassion. One of them (She saies she's a "true" witch... ) often saies to me I'm not as powerful as them. (And it doesn't help me very much, I shall say) What should I do ?! Am I really less powerful ? Is Witchcraft like in the movies, where there's 100% true witches ?!
Hold on, I don't wanna be the most powerful Wiccan on Earth ! :P I just want to feel confident and helpful in what I (think I) do best : to be in harmony with water, air and ice !
I would be very grateful if you, sisters and brothers, could help me to clear all this. Should I cast spells all alone, to evaluate my limits ? Thank you !
Blessed be )0(

I don't see a reason why you should hang out with someone who makes you feel bad about your craft. And really, what do you mean by "powerful"? I mean, do you really expect something like in the movies? And how do these girls know you are not powerful enough?
Now, I don't mean to sound harsh, but I think these two girls have taken themselves really seriously and are probably not as powerful or skilful as they think. And they are trying to put you down because that's their way to feel better than somebody.

Actually from what you wrote, I think none of you has read enough or is experienced enough to cast circles or whatever else you are doing. But that's fixable. If I were you, I would read all I can find about Wicca if I wanted to be Wiccan. I would also refrain from casting anything before I learn everything I can.
Just, get out of the movie. Being a witch is nothing like in the movies - it's a lot less flashy and a lot more exciting and interesting. But you need to study and be patient.

Thank you, YanaKhan!
By powerful, I meant "with strong powers", like telepathy, empathy, visions, or even to change the temperature of water. Because I only know tarots and the girls have parents who have this kind of abilities. (empathy)
Of course, I didn't expect something like in the movies ! :-D The fact is I heard that "there's humans who become Wiccans and Wiccans that are naturally Wiccans." But now, I don't think it's true... Anyone can become Wiccan, right ?!?
And you're right : I need A LOT more practice (reading) ! I'm not really a beginner, though, but I'm certainly not a star...
Blessed be, YanaKhan. )0( I'm really glad you answered my questions.

I think everyone has their gifts. You need to figure out what yours is, and then work on making that stronger.

These girls could just be saying they are powerful but might not have any true power at all. Maybe they do. I would stop and think if you want to continue to work with them or not. Part of being in a circle together is to work together, help each other to learn and grow. It doesnt sound like they are helping you.

Knowledge is power. The more you read and learn about the Craft, the stronger you will become.

If you still want to work with these girls, but you want to "catch up" to the level you think they're at, try working on your own as well as working with them. Learning new things, be it learning a new religion or riding a bicycle, takes time. Some people will catch on faster than others. Have you considered working with an experience mentor? Most teachers, Wiccan or otherwise, understand that within a group dynamic, there will be people that sail through lessons, while others take a little longer to get to shore, so to speak. A good teacher will know how to keep things going so that someone who isn't learning as fast as the others, doesn't feel left behind.
I think that a true witch is someone who is serious about being a witch. They do their best to lead good lives and incorporate their magickal beliefs into the mundane side of their lives. You won't be able to pick a witch out of a crowd just by looking at them. If you do spot someone in the crowd that has on lots of black, is loaded down with large stone jewelry and has five or more pentagram necklaces, chances are you have found a fake witch. If someone says they are a witch just to anger their parents, or to seem cool, or to try to scare just about anyone, they aren't a witch at all, they're more like a sad version of a cos-player.
Traits like telepathy and empathy aren't a prerequisite for becoming a witch. Everyone has these abilities to a degree, but most people go through life without ever experiences these gifts. It does seem like many witches are quite talented in these areas, but a lot of times, it's because their practices help amplify these abilities. Think of psychic abilities as muscles: the more you exercise them and use them, the better they perform.
To sum it all up: practice makes perfect. Keep striving to learn new things, no matter how long you've been a witch. Keep reading and keep casting circles. You'll get the hang of it. If these girls try to bring you down by telling you you're not go enough, leave them at the curb. ;)

Thanks AnaisStar and Echo_of_shadows ! I'm actually trying to find any book which would help me. It is a lot of reading ^^ Suggestions ?

Echo_of_shadows, I would like to contact a mentor, but in my country, Wicca isn't really popular. :( Though, I decided to stop practicing with these girls for six months. During this time, I'll study and practice. I hope it will be sufficient.

Thanks a lot, everybody ! Blessed be )0(

Here are a couple links that might help you along:

The Magick Nook (set up by our own DPhoenix)
http://www.themagicknook.com/ebooks/

The Witches' Voice
http://witchvox.com/

The first link is to free ebooks. If you click on the Witchcraft/Wicca button, you'll find a list of 12 beginner books. You might want to start with the books for solitary practitioners since you plan to work on your own for a little while.
The second link is to a sight that lists the names of some Witches and covens from all over the world. See if maybe you can find someone there in your corner of the world.
Best of luck. It can be difficult when you're on your own, especially in the beginning, but it can be done. You're not alone. You've got a community here that would love to help you. Ask us anything, anytime. :D
