Now I'm not going to say that I'm some powerful high priestess that knows it all... because I'm not. I'm not going to say I'm qualified to give tips and advice for advanced magick... because I don't belong to a coven that has given me a special initiation into a degree... but I'll throw some things out there and let you decide what resonates with you.
I don't like the idea of degrees but for illustrative purposes I'll use them here.
Knowledge: As a first degree witch you need to soak up as much knowledge as possible. This requires study on a variety of topics. You need to understand what magick is, how to cast spells, perform rituals, correspondences etc... this is the foundation of your Craft. The more you study, the more you know, the sturdier the foundation for future magickal workings.
Understanding: As a second degree witch you still need to be learning and adding to your library, quite frankly you should never stop learning. At this stage you should understand how what you learn relates. Understand why a spell uses certain ingredients, understand why you cast a circle, understand how to be able to create your own spells, rituals and charms.
Wisdom: As a third degree witch you not only have the knowledge and understanding, but the wisdom to see how it all plays together. This wisdom lets you raise potent energy and your magick is taken to a whole new level.
Knowledge + Understanding = Wisdom
So how do you know when you're advanced? When you have the strong foundations of book knowledge and you have practical knowledge through practice. After you've built these solid foundations the next step is learning energy manipulation.
Recommended forms of energy manipulation that I personally use:
Meditation
Qi Gong
Tai Chi
Mudras

Re: Importance of Energy Work
Honestly, I haven't done as much work with Mudras as I'd like. I usually use QiGong instead and it's my favorite form of physical energy work. There is a wonderful beginner video by Gaiam. Highly recommend it!Mudras are absolutely fascinating and i'd love to hear your take on more of the topic! actually I really like energy work and visualizations and incorporating any sort of aid to my meditation like a mudra is an amazing thing to help any kind of engery work! Most lovely put Phoenix although i've only been studying for a couple of years everything you sad was spot on.
I have some basic mudras that I use when casting spells or rituals. They're hard to describe in text so doing a search on Youtube will yield all sorts of instructional videos. Most of them are for healing though, not so much actual magick work. Even so, a healthy aura and body are needed for effective magick work (imo anyway).

Re: Importance of Energy Work
Energy work is I think more easy than doing spell work. You have to rely on your intuition and direct you energy on a non-agressive way when cleansing or healing those who ask for it. Also sharing what you can do with energy work is slightly unnerving based on how others will respond to you. But if you like it. Don't falter and listen to what your intuition is telling you about the person. Their energy wave length will tell you if they desire your services or not, or is unsure. Just be calm, patient, and open.
Re: Importance of Energy Work
A big barrier to me was my education.
"Energy" in a metaphysical sense is still considered psuedoscience nonsense by the mainstream. So for me, I resisted energy work for the longest time. What worked for me, was to use it as a 'working metaphor' for what we do. It has helped me develop an energy work practice.
I think too, each of us have a different way to perceive energy psychically. Some are more psychically visual, or like me, empathically feel everything.
Go with your strengths and develop from there.

Re: Importance of Energy Work
Thank you for your post. I just started doing advanced energy work and doing ball exercises to strengthen myself, where you make an energy in your hands. Another Wiccan that I was fortunate to meet not too long ago just did a small workshop in her house where we actually were moving and playing with energy back and forth with each other. It was an amazing experience.
I definitely want to do more meditation to make my work stronger.

Re: Importance of Energy Work
Hey guys, I'm removing the Advanced Wicca forum since it seems pretty dead. I'm going to move this Nursing thread over into the Healing and Energy Work forum. Sorry for any inconvenience.
