Opinions please!

Hi,
I am in a pretty nasty situation and I felt that I should start a little honey jar...
My mom is spreading horrible rumors, none of them true, about me and my husband to all my friends, people I know and to our work. For both me and my husband going to work has become a nightmare, we don't know exactly who is "infected"with her lies and who is not. But people are mean and they spread the gossip around to managers and higher ppl. She manufactured a story how my husband is violent with me and Im abandoning her, none of these are true at all, she has some real diagnosed mental problems, but people don't know this and she looks normal.
Bottom line, I started this jar.
I really need your opinions to tell me if I did something wrong, as I combined few spells found online.

Honey jar with Table Syrup and sugar. Pictures of people who are spreading gossip, on the back I wrote their names and in circular motion, without taking my hand off paper I wrote 3 times to stop talking bad and to appreciate us . I sew each pictures mouth with black thread saying each time the same
I put all in the jar. Burned pink and blue candles on the jar. I stuck the needle I used to sew mouths in the first candl;e bottom with the tip up. Candles anointed with oil containing black pepper, coriander and cumin, olive oil. Burned candles for 3 days. Started Wed till fri.

Question: is this a good spell? Have I done something wrong? Any suggestions?

Personally, I would do a standard Witches jar. Small glass bottle, rusted nails, bent staples, maybe a razor blade or two. You will need to add either urine or spit in it to bind it to you. Seal it with a cork, cover cork with wax, tie a red ribbon around the jar. (Do this in a consecrated circle.) Break circle, and bury it at the far end of your property. If necessary, bury it deep in a potted plant in the room you use least. Close the circle and know it's working to keep negativity at bay.
