Re: Totem animal?
Different beliefs have different variations of the spirit guide/spirit animal concept. I would suggest you find a pantheon or belief you really resonate with and then find the answers within that tradition, but then I'm recon. *shrug*
The Gods we worship write their names on our faces; be sure of that. A person will worship something, have no doubt about that. We may think our tribute is paid in secret in the dark recesses of our hearts, but it will out. That which dominates our imaginations and our thoughts will determine our lives, and our character. Therefore, it behooves us to be careful what we worship, for what we are worshipping we are becoming.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
As believers in the folk-religion we are studying, we seek after mysteries that expand the scope of our gods and our understanding of them, not reductionist theories that reduce them to manageable and socially productive "functions".

Re: Totem animal?
A spirit guide is usually human, usually an ancestor.
A spirit totem is an animal that resonates with your soul, and teaches you lessons of your soul.
Thats how I was taught.

DancingWillowTree,
Think of animals. Type in response the first three animals that come to your mind. Don't think about it very hard; just name three animals. Everyone who reads this, do the same, if you will. (FUN!)

Re: Totem animal?
Maybe its because of my panther, or maybe its my shadow totem a lone wolf but ether way when someone says do something I tend to do the opposite XD It's simply in my nature!

I'm trying my own concept of totems based on some science (possible pseudo-science) that has been told to me.

Re: Totem animal?
xD I only have two totem animals, the panther(one ui got when I was six or younger) came to me before i knew what a panther was and never left. The wolf I met when I was a teenager, at night, in my backyard. Took me a few years and a very observant friend to realize it was my shadow totem animal, not a spirit wolf that looked fleshy enough to eat me XD He's always around too but not as obvious cus the panther cuddles X3

Re: Totem animal?
I would ask you to name another animal, but I suppose you won't cooperate.....that's your nature...XD

Re: Totem animal?

Re: Totem animal?
Thanks for all of the wonderful answers! The First three that come to mind (in Order) Black panther (i have always loved them!) Kangaroo(i haven't had anything weird with them it just happened to be in my head at the time) and Gorilla (i don't know why i thought of him because when i was about 9 i had a little scare with a gorilla and now when at the zoo i stay as far away as possible). Lost Demise, I was on youtube the other day and a totem animals video came up and i watched it and so i was curious about what Exactally they were and if everyone had one. -Willow!!

Re: Totem animal?
I don't think everyone has a totem animal but I think everyone has at least something. It all depends on the person I think.
