I'm quite sure I've experienced similar sensations before. This is an interesting phenomenon.

I've also been able to go back into a dream if I want - like willingly enter and exit the dream...although this hasn't happened in a while.

Dreaming about darkness can mean a few different things. Notably, there can be unresolved feelings you are having in relation to a particular fear or paranoia. It could also mean you are insecure about something. Also darkness in a dream can illustrate that you are "in the dark" about issu...

In my experience, unresolved feelings have a way of popping back into your real (i.e. not dream) life. Don't be surprised if he's thinking of you and it triggered it. And I wouldn't be surprised if he contacted you. If you choose to talk to him again, so be it. But if not, try to let him go peaceful...
