Is that a television show? If so I would guess it's for ratings?

One would imagine 'ghosts' are in high demand on a 'paranormal' show.

Infrared and ultraviolet imaging is affordably available and ghost hunters are making use if it. Shadow figures aren’t infrared images of course but color blocking camera filters can be used. I’m wearing blue ray blocking eyeglasses that reduce eye strain for computer work. These weren’t affordable 5 years ago. And there seems to be more awareness of shadow figures and thus more photo ops. There’s multiple explanations. And I think ghost figures have traditionally been called shades rather than that they cast shadows. If the images you’re viewing on tv cast shadows then IMO they’d be faked.
