Baba Yaga is a slavic term. It's first known usage is from 1755. It is from Lomonov's Rossiiskaya Grammatika. {Russian Grammar} She is known as an ugly crone, a witch, who lives in a hut that travels about the country on chicken legs. Her favorite haunts are the edge's of the Pripet Marshes. There are linguistic equivalents in old Czech, Polish, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Romanian and Serbo-Croatian. There is also a possible equivalent in Proto-slavic Ukrainian.

You can also plant protective herbs and trees around your property, in cardinal points and near entrances... like sage, jasmine, ivy, ferns... oak trees, olive trees, orange trees (these ones are good to protect a marriage), etc.
