Candle changed color

Postby Karl » Tue Jan 06, 2009 8:54 am

Hi all,

I'm new, to the Craft, the website, and I started learning about magick about two years ago, but the progress was slow since I had to practice in secret, and I didn't have all the tools and full understanding of how things work. I'm still learning, which is always good, right?

So I have a newbie issue: My candle changed color. I had an aqua blue candle, which I used to invoke the element of fire occasionally when I needed boost of power in my spells, but as I hadn't cast a spell requiring fire in some time (months, at least), I left my candle out near my other supplies (herbs in jars, crystals, etc.).

Yesterday I realized the candle had changed color; the top of it (around the wick) had turned a grayish shade of purple. I think it's dust, but my question is: How do I clean it and get it to be blue again? What will this change of color do for my spells? My comfort color, or the color which invokes most energy in me, is blue, so there might be side-effects now that it's grayish-purple at the top. Any idea what i might do, or am I worrying for nothing?

Blessed be,
Karl

I don't see how it could hurt anything in your rituals. I have three white candles that are a little sooty and have some little bits of rosemary stuck in them, and I use them for bath rituals all the time, with no ill effects.

Otherwise, I imagine the only way to get rid of the discolored wax is to scrape it out.
