Merry Meet,
I am a college student, living in a dorm. There's a no candle policy... What can I use instead of candles? I've been having to go else where to do any spells and I'd like to be able to in the comfort of my own home. I've just been struggling... Can anyone help me out?
Blessed Be,
Corutani

Substitute battery powered "LED" candles - the visual symbolism is obvious. And batteries have both a positive and negative polarity representing duo deities and electricity is the Fire/plasma element. Some LEDs have timers which are handy - when the timer shuts off the light the spell is done. Use petition papers placed under LED-candles for spells. Instead of dressing the candle you dab the paper (:-:) with oil. 5-spots represents the quartered circle & elements.
You can’t use incense or smudge wands in dorms so substitute an aerosol mist as Air=Vapor. Put a few drops of essential oil with water & 1-Tablespoon isopropyl alcohol & fill with water in a 2-oz spray bottle, or use 1-Tablespoon lemon juice & 1/2 cup H2O. Shake well.
Whenever you substitute pay attention to maintaining symbolism. In magic the symbol is as real as the thing itself.

Maybe talk to someone about their religious purpose for you? I know policies can vary, but many places will accommodate things they don't normally allow if it's part of yor religion. Or they may be able to give you some ideas, because I'm *sure* you aren't the first student to use candles in your practice- many belief systems use candles!
