Offerings to the Fae

I've read up on the Fae folk a good bit and have learned a decent amount of what to do and not to do when giving offerings. But I wonder what exactly should be said? I know not to thank them as it's offensive, but when I present them with a cake or two or a small dish of milk how should I address the fae? How should I tell them I'm offering the milk/cake to show appreciation for their presence without being offensive to them?

Just say "hi, I've brought you something to enjoy." lay it down and walk away so they can get on with it in private. Why you offer it is just the ego wanting to be recognized.

Just be natural about it. Instead of bowing down before them, meet them as a peer. Like bringing a gift to a friend. You don't thank your friend for hanging out with you; that sounds like you didn't expect your friend to show up. You bring your friend a gift not because you owe them, but because you appreciate the relationship. Same thing with the Fae.
