I've not had any success in meeting with my spirit guide but when I need them I ask them to come around me and support me. I believe they hear and are around all the time regardless of whether you can feel their influence.
Perhaps you could ask your guide to help you make contact?

I'm not really into the whole 'Spirit Guide' thang, but as I've heard people say time and time again..

"You'll meet them when the time is right".

It's my personal belief that spirit guides are nothing more than our own mind 'helping us out'.. They may take the form of spirit guides, spirit animals, Elementals, 'angels'... Whatever :).. But, ultimately, it's just our mind's way of instructing and guiding us in the way it thinks we'll find 'most comfortable'.

You might need to meditate more, learn to relax and become more receptive to whatever messages your 'guide' is sending you.. Or perhaps you're doing just fine, and don't need any real guidance just yet :).

Good luck, though, either way! I'm sure you'll meet your guide just as soon as (just like everyone says) 'the time is right' :).

Yay, something I know about! Lol.

Well it depends on what you mean by spirit guide. Whether you mean some spirit that's yours, or a gaurdian angel or something. Sometimes contacting them is different. However I can tell you how I met my Gaurdian Angel.

I had been talking to a girl who's story I was reading and asked her if she believed in angels (her story was about angels) and she said yes and that she had met her Gaurdian Angel. She then taught me an excercise to speak with my Gaurdian Angel. She told me that while meditating or while laying in bed to imagine myself rising from my body and soaring into the sky, then going to a place where I felt comfortable. Mine happened to be a forest. When I arrived my Angel was in the form of an animal, (as they usually are because their Identity is one of their most sacred things) She was in the form of a crow. Since then she has taken many forms, a tucan, flamingo, wolf, and a big cat. I began to talk to her just natural conversation and she even told me her name. It turned out to be Elizabeth, but I call her Eliza. I have had many conversations with her.

Now for a more physical spirit guide I've had an "imaginary" friend since I was way young, two actually. One was a great dragon name Camio the other was a giant wolf named Kotake. Both have been with me since I was a child. Kotake, the wolf, I have even caught glimpses of and felt his touch physically. I didn't have any special way of contacting them, those two just came to me of their own free will out of no where.

Make sure if you try the excercise above that you stay alert, don't fall asleep in this state! It can be dangerous. Hope some of that helped you out.

Blessed Be.

I have also heard of the meditation, trance state, to find a spirit guide. I've even seen specific regression sessions someone can walk you through to find your spirit guide. I have not done these so can't say one way or the other.

I do believe spirit guides are with us whether we know it or not. Until the day they need to make themself known to you, they just protect and serve.

The realization is probably different for everyone. But I will say that you will know it when it happens. Give the meditation a try, or be patient.

What is a spirit guide and does everyone have one?

I think everyone does have a spirit guide. They come in all shapes, sizes and genders (should they have a gender), but other than that I have no good way to describe exactly what a spirit guide is. They're a lot like a guardian angel, though.

My spirit guide DOES take the form of an angel-with-wings. But I suppose that if he wanted to he could take any form he bloody well pleased.

Sorry if that made no sense. I'm a little light headed and sleep deprived (yay all night homework doing sessions)

Although I'd agree that even the most distasteful of teachers may teach us something valuable, I think it's also within your rights to turn away any spirit teacher who approaches you.

For example, when I was much younger, a particular spirit came to me in a dream and offered to teach me, and me alone, everything he knew. He imparted his offer without speaking and without my hearing any words. I didn't sense that this spirit was necessarily 'evil', in fact I sensed only the sincerity of the offer. However, I felt that what was being offered was a little too dark, and not really 'my style' at the time, so I declined. I doubt the spirit was offended, he just departed (I'm sure he just wandered on to someone else).

This was the only time I've ever been offered anything like a tutelage, but I've also chosen to decline other offers of knowledge or companionship. I've never been blessed enough to have an animal spirit approach me in the physical world, and if I was, I was probably too self involved at the time to notice.

In any case, it seems to me that there's little point in having free will if you're bound to give your full attention to every spirit who knocks on your door. What does everyone else think about this? I apologize if anything I've said has come across as sacrilegious to your particular path.

thanks,

T. Guy.

I believe I have a spirit guide who somehow is guiding me through life. You know those moments when you say to yourself 'wow, what were the chances of this happening?' or 'If that particular event had never occurred, then this event would never have occurred, my my, isn't fate strange'. I feel that somehow my spirit guide has had a hand in things...but no, I've never seen or felt its presence.

I think the best way to meet them is through meditation, although you can call on them anytime to feel their presence. Sometimes I use a pendulum to talk to them or my tarot cards.

I found mine through meditation, though I've heard of people finding their guide(s) in other ways. Do you practice anything that would get you in touch with the spirit world? I tend to divine and find my guide there as well (or at least nudging me along).
Come, heart, where hill is heaped upon hill:
For there the mystical brotherhood
Of sun and moon and hollow and wood
And river and stream work out their will.
