Opinions of Book of Shadows

I have the worst handwriting in the world so I type out my spells and rituals. My thought was to type them out and then glue or paste them into a Book of Shadows (probably using scrapbooking materials). That way a) I had my book and b) I could actually read them in candle light (or at all!) I've had people tell me it wouldn't be a real BOS if I did it that way, that it has to be hand written.
My opinion is whatever gets it done, what do y'all think?

Your mind is still actively engaged in the text creation as you type. If our forefathers and mothers had computers you can bet they would use them. Scrap booking is also part of the creative process and engages the focussed intent of the artist. Blow raspberries. Your energy signature will be all over the BOS you describe, the same as if in your own hand of writ...and more legible.

Yea... there are some traditions that require you copy their 16,000 pages into your own book. Ouch
I was lucky that mine gave me a zerox copy from their typed text. Or was it mimeographed? Lol
Anywho...I cannot read my own writing either...though it looks legible when I write it!
My book is a combo of my own hand, some drawings of my own, and copied stuff... also some notebook paper notes.
Sounds like you will do a glorious job with special added touches to give it your personal flair. Have fun!

Ask any pharmacist whether they prefer typed orders or handwritten orders. The intent is there, regardless of the format. If your spells are less likely to be misread, that would be a good thing. Listen to your instincts. You have them for a reason.

I don't know how I managed not to subscribe to my own thread. Sheesh.
Ok, I have no problem telling the naysayers to Go Fish. Type it is. Now I need a good font that's pretty but still readable by candle light.

It will be YOUR personal BOS - so YOU decide 'how' to write it.
To be honest, my first BOS was a very expensive book and I enjoyed writing and drawing in it. For me this drawing and writing was always a very personal and private thing. I've really put much effort in this book but one day it was all filled. I've thought of buying the same book again, bu it was first sold out and then no longer manufactured.
Then I started to write down all on my computer and saved it in my cloud.
Maybe it's not traditional and maybe it doesn't look good either, but I can look up my BOS
from everywhere if necessary. Cannot remember a writen rule that we shouldn't go with the times
and shouldn't use what is technically given.

Considering I'm in IT and my life almost entirely revolves online, especially now that I'm more homebound due to surgery and recovery, it makes perfect sense to me to have everything online. I just don't want my laptop on my alter, that's where I draw the line.

Some people are very talented at calligraphy, and could scribe a BOS fit for an art museum. My BOS is in my head. When I was working nights as a CNA at a teaching hospital, one of our tasks was transcribing orders onto patient cardexes. We took an unholy delight in giving things back to interns and residents to rewrite legibly.

LOL The entire altar set up would take up the entire room... Huge displays so I could see in the dark without squinting... You may be on to something here!

I think thats a default of the board.
If you do not want your topics highlighted, then look for the check mark at the bottom of each page, I think you will have to uncheck each subject.
But then if you are being notified in your e mail.?...I don't know about that

maybe in profile settings.

I plan to use my phone for my book of shadows as I will always have it with me.

There are pre-printed BOS spell and ritual pages available for three ring binders from various on-line sources, and they ain't cheap. At first this made me squint one eye as I considered it, with my "oh, really" skeptic. So who am I to say no? Really, there are viable reasons to purchase these; such as when you honestly do not have an ability to harness your thoughts and write your own, or you just like the artistic work on the pages. You can still personalize with added pages you draw or doodle or color yourself. You can do a spell to consecrate it as your own.
