Has witchcraft and wicca been used to improve peoples lives?

To understand why I am asking this, I live in a part of the world where there is so much injustice, fraud and ignorance that ordinary people die quite young, and people losing faith in everything is nothing new. While myself, I have somewhat been able to scratch a living for myself, I can't say the same for my peers.

I have been a christian for as long as I remember, and a good Christian, according to my standards. I cant claim I am the standard measure of Christianess.

That being said, I found it very weird that in spite of all the suffering around me, my religion did not seem have concrete answers, yet we are taught that God (Adonai) is the provider, the creator and the ultimate judge. Many years have passed since I first heard the first sermon and to this day, it has been more talk than action from our so said creator and provider.

People have been stabbed, money looted, civil war, terrorism, and generally people have become a magnitude sadder since I started taking notes on my surroundings. I have since come to my conclusion.

Probably, there is God, but he does not want to help me or my people.

Lately I have been thinking. I have known for a long time that witches exist or people generally with extraordinary power. I have zeroed in on witchcraft and Wicca as forms of crafts that I wanted to research.

Is there a time in history where witchcraft or wicca been used to positively change peoples lives? If yes, the power of witchcraft be applied to solve today's problems?

In my humble experiences "God/Adonai/The Creator/The Goddess...or whatever" is not the issue. People are the issue. Those who have greed, and those who choose to live by a way other than peace and balance are the problem. I have met corrupt witches and Christains. The darker parts of humanity know no creed or way of practice.

As long as there are those who seek to take advantage of others; there will be inequality.

I just noticed that you haven't yet taken the opportunity to introduce yourself. Please do that as the guardians and folks on EUTM do prefer that people take the time to meet the community. :)

Most of the history you'll find on witchcraft will be shrouded in fear and negativity depending on your sources. Everything post-Christianity will be diluted by rumor and conjecture. You could certainly, depending on your beliefs, use witchcraft to your benefit. But it should not be used as a weapon. If that is what you're looking for... you'll find none of that on this website.

The OP confuses me. This topic is a bit similar to the last one. Well, s/he is gone now, whatever.

Academic witchcraft definitions not with standing, I think it can be positive, yes.

Silly question, but what's an "OP"?

Very much so, but it's on a micro-level.

A lot of Hoodoo-conjure folk magic is about the little influences. Influencing your boss, influencing the police to look away. Things like that, which poor folks were constantly being harassed about.

I've yet to create a lotto spell that works, but people use luck spells for small wins.

Being a witch also gives you a purpose in life, and you are in touch with spirits and beings that re-enforce that what you believe is real.

Even though this member has been banned, I think this is a good question.

The answer is yes. And yes.

The rites of witchcraft, and the fundamental teachings of Wicca, have been a part of us since the dawn of humanity. They help us to connect with nature, with the divine, and with ourselves. Through this connection we gain knowledge and understanding. These are the things the Guardians of Orthodoxy, and the Powers That Be, do not want us to have.

But today's problems are no different than the problems of people in the past, and these problems will never go away. Magic alone cannot be used to directly solve problems. In the end, it will always be people who solve problems... but magic, and the rites, can certainly help us to make better choices in solving them.
