Developing Psychic Potential Through Meditation

I have been told many times that meditating helps us to develop our psychic potential and ability (which we all have, some more dormant than others). Has anyone seen big changes in this after a lot of meditating?
Thanks very much :-)

I always meditate before doing any divintatory reading or spellcasting (I divine more than I cast). The results are exponentially better if I meditate.

How do you know the results are better when you meditate when you have said that you always meditate?

I always meditate *now*. Perhaps that wasn't clear. I used to do it without meditating, but it improves so much that I always do it now.

I've done meditation (primarily qigong) for 20 years. Meditation releases blockages in your energy no matter what form of meditation you use. This raises your general level of energy. After awhile, it will cause you to have interesting experiences. You might begin seeing auras, or feeling energy or hearing things. How it comes out depends on what potential areas of strength you have. With me I feel and read people's energy. I am very intuitive, but only occasionally see or hear anything.

Sorry Awen, I'd been meaning to reply to your post here as soon as I
was given non-spammer access and it slipped my mind.

I also practice chi gong meditation, but not for as long as Nackin.

The first remarkable effects I noticed were the ability to sense
and direct (first tactilely then visually) my own energy and also
my own bloodflow, eventually this extended to other people.

Other interesting abilities developed later, and I also agree that what
they are probably depend on the person. Rarely I'll have full blown
visions but only during meditation.
How do you know the results are better when you meditate when you have said that you always meditate?

thats really excellent - i think i'm unfortunately too sporadic with my meditation at the moment, for it to make any difference. I would like to be more aware so I knew "what to do next" for my path, and so I could sense others more and help them. But when I get stuck into normal life, or worry about things, I feel very disconnected and like I'm stuck inside cotton wool or something :-)

Even more reason for you to meditate Awen. Any form of meditation is better than none - even if it's only for 5 mins a day.

Do those of that medidate find it easy. i have been trying for a while now and I can't seem to get it right. I get into a kinda of deep state but I am always aware of where i actually am and am not sure if i am completely controlling what happens. Sorry to keep asking for help with stuff but i can feel all this potential inside waiting to get out but i can't release it.

Blessed Be

Hello Butterfly, I don't personally find meditation easy.

Try not to worry so much about it :)

cheers,

T. Guy.

I don't meditate often, but when I do I have the same problem as Butterfly1984, I can't seem to get into that deep state. I found that the best thing to do was to visualize myself somewhere else, like in a forest. It always seems to help me forget about the real world. :D

Actually I have, with all kinds of results. I haven't been able to travel anywhere but my own plane yet, but I hope to soon. Maybe I just need more focus.

This is a great topic! Sorry I didn't post sooner but tomorrow is my last exam for the semester and I've been studying. Now... well... if I don't know it now I'm gonna fail anyway :)

Meditation is something that is often mentioned in Pagan communities but for the most part it's all 'meditation is good, do it' but that's all. The 'whys' aren't really spoken about or even the 'hows'. Why we don't often speak of how is simply because there are thousands of different kinds of meditation. Finding the form/s that work best for you can take a little work. Experimentation is the only way to go.

Now, the whys.... As has already been said meditation can help focus the mind and enable you to channel energy more effectively. It can also stabilize moods and create an internal harmony. What is often overlooked is the mental discipline it helps create. Given that the mind is any magickal practitioner's greatest tool, it makes sense to be able to make it do what you want it to. There's no point in doing an elaborate ritual if halfway through you start thinking about dinner, or if you can't channel energy worth beans.

Start small and go from there. Meditation, visualization, self-hypnosis, astral travel, trance states etc. are all mental disciplines that take time and patience to learn. Remember, it takes a great deal of effort to first reach those states and then to maintain them. In many ways you’ll be using ‘muscles’ that have never been used before.
