I don't know how to do potions...but maybe this will even broaden your knowledge. You could make brewed potpourri...it is where you take herbs associated with your magickal purpose and boil them in water. Sprinkle the water on your altar/magickal space...and your magick has been charged with herb power focused upon your magickal intent. You may chant and/or visualize while you make the brew. You can also charge the herbs to your intent beforehand.
Blessed be :)

Well I don't know if this would fit into your defination of potions...

Linimint for arthritis and bone pains
1 yucca root about 6in
(found in most grocery stores, at least on west coast)
1 pint of vodka (cheap ones work well)
1 quart canning jar-clean and dry
make sure thre is NO water left in it and no lint

Use cotton balls yo apply
This works better if you can grate this root,
it's a tough root and you may need to take a break part way.
put grated root in jar and fill it up with the vodka almost to the top.
Shake well, place jar in a warm spot in the house but not in sunlight.
Shake well every 3-4 days...let contents soak for 3-6wks
Strain, used yucca can be put in compost pile.
Dry Peppermint leaves may be added to calm odor, Peppermint will
work on muscle pain also.
Since alcohol is used the linimint has no shelf life-
Vinegar linimints are only good for a year.

Hope this helps !

Contact Potion Masters at Hogwarts extension office or attend a community education class on herbalism. A couple of good references Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs and The Idiot's Guide to Potions. It’s a darned good book & has good how-to & tips. Do not drink anything you couldn't find at the grocery store. Potions can be used like oils to dress candles & petition, & as aerosols mists.

To make Elemental Philters:

On the appropriate weekday, put the herbs related to your intent into a pot & add enough water to cover. Simmer on low heat until the liquid is reduced by half. Let cool & strain. Decant strained liquid into an appropriate colored bottle & add brandy equal to 1/2 the volume as a preservative. Apple cider vinegar can be substituted for alcohol. Toss spent herbs into compost. Label & include element & planet symbols on label for energy. Magnetize the potion & charge with your intent.

Air: Mercury; thought, mentalism; 🟡 bottle; marjoram, mint, sage; Wednesday
Fire: Sun & Mars; partners, vitality; 🔴 bottle; bay leaf, basil, rosemary; Sun & Tues.
Water: Venus & Moon; emotions, psychism; 🔵 bottle; lemon, rose, thyme; Fri & Mon.
Earth: Saturn & Jupiter; prosperity, home; 🟢 bottle; salt, barley, mugwort, patchouli; Sat & Thurs.

With some research you can find many more plant's than the dozen noted above to meet your needs. And check the Kitchen witchcraft area for more suggestions.
