Is this magic(k)?

Postby tourennatrix » Mon Jan 14, 2019 11:13 pm

A couple days ago, a coworker rushed in the door holding her head and calling for help. She had hit her head on her car door and was bleeding and freaking out. I don't really know anything about head injuries, but I recently took a first aid course (required as I'm going into a field of health care, but one which doesn't usually involve fresh injuries!)- so I sat her down and tried to remember all the little things to do and what to watch out for (basically applied pressure and tried to reassure her that she was going to be fine). Eventually we decided to take her to the doctor because she was light headed and faint. Of course once we got there they just said she didn't have a concussion, didn't need stitches, and gave her a regular sized bandaid!

When I was telling this to a friend, he responded with "look at you, casting spells!" And it caught me off guard because that was furthest from my mind while I was looking for rubber gloves and gauze. But then I wondered... Because people cast spells all the time without knowing it? Maybe he wasn't far off the mark?

What do you think?

Intentions are everything. But actions are what make things able to manifest.
Sounds more like it just is what it is. She scraped her head and made a bigger deal of it than it was. There was no concussion to heal.

Ah, I wasn't suggesting a miracle cure for a concussion, just some sort of setting things in motion for it to heal "better". But yes, she was making a bigger deal of it than it was (super easy to do with head injuries) and probably the real healing happened when the doctor told her himself that she was going to be fine :p

Scientific discoveries have recently shown that intentions focused on the ailing spot of the body, by literally believing it to be fixed, actually causes regular cells to transform into stem cells and fix the issues.

Concussion has shock and impact. I say you took away the shock and the Dr took away the impact... :P

Facial injuries are notorious for looking like an artery has been breached.

Haha, in hindsight, I keep thinking that it really wasn't so bad, and I "should have" known that she was fine, but I keep having to remind myself that (a) there's no point in playing out different things I could have done and (b) I am still glad we went the route we did based on the information we had at the time. Hindsight is a bitch sometimes ;)
