Cleansing in an aparment and remedies for fire

Postby Dew » Wed Nov 29, 2017 11:42 am

Hi everyone!
So I live in a small condo and it's a huge problem when it comes to open fires and smoke. My fire alarm will turn on for the slightest things, even smoke/evaporation from my hair drier and sometimes even because the oven is on (even if there's no visible smoke), not to mention our only window doesn't open (it's broken) and I have a cat so I can't open the balcony door unless I lock him in the bedroom, which I want him to be free so I feel bad doing that. So smudging, lighting candles and incense is mostly out of the question for me. Are there other remedies for cleansing and for the altar use of incense and candles?

Thanks!

I do live in the city and don't have a driver's license to go visit nearby parks. </3

My old fire alarm used to go off whenever i made grilled cheese sandwiches, and lordloveaduck, if I burn the microwave popcorn!

You could replace a smoke smudge with a spray: equal parts H2O & Witch Hazel which is organic, and 10 or so drops essential oil depending on the size of the bottle, & a pinch of salt. I have one that is sage & cedar. Works great. Spritzing or saucers with table salt placed in corners around a room can cleanse a space. Water’s crystalline structure is absorbent so even a few glasses of water set around will help. Also, using a Himalayan Pink Salt lamp will cleanse. They are available as electric lights or for tea light candles. Put a saucer under salt to protect tables.

You could fix the window? Make a screen with hardware store screen mesh & thumb tacked across an opening to keep cats in.

Open fire, as in a hearth? Nope. Cant think of any subs, but LED candles are flame less & quite popular & pretty. I use them for a perpetual light on my altar, which is "below C-level" I.e., cats. Batteries make electricity which is of the fire element. If you have to burn petition papers, or sigils, do so on the balcony, with the door shut behind you so smoke doesn't waft back indoors. Just don't lock yourself out :)

You can also try mundane cures to keep your bell from being rung. Place a wet wash cloth over the offending alarm. Make sure you remove it after clearing the air. You'll be standing at the balcony doors. Uses this opportunity to train your cat in case the balcony doors are left open by mistake.
You can use blessed water with some salt in it. I prefer Pink Himalayan Sea Salt. It already has an inclusion of calcium chloride, calcium carbonate and potassium chloride. Use this water as you would sage or other smudging compound. You don't need to drown your living quarters.

I eat t-bone steak once a week and that always sets the fire alarm off. >:-(
