I thought I would ask, how often one should offer devotions?
Are there different reasons for offering devotions, what are the main reasons?
I have an offering on the altar today, my first real time participating in such, and am wanting to make it a seasonal thing. An offering in autumn, one in Spring, Winter, Summer.
I plan on using fresh plants, materials during these seasons in this area.
I am curious why and how often you guys offer devotional offerings? If you do, why and or why not?
Thanks.

Re: Devotional Offerings, how often?
How often should one offer devotions? As guided by your own Inner spirit, within your means, or according to the stated dictates - if any - of one's chosen path. In Wicca, it's part of the seasonal and full Moon rituals.
Are there different reasons for offering devotions, what are the main reasons? I think everybody who does so acts according to their own concepts of making an agreement of a mutually pleasing exchange, or making a sacrifice in thanks. Mainly, it's the simple joy of sharing in an attitude of gratitude for what one has. Offerings can be physical things given or actions done to bring joy to another as well as acts of service given to the living and the dead alike.
I am curious why and how often you guys offer devotional offerings? If you do, why and or why not? Why - because it pleases me. I don't believe my concept of Deity expects or demands it. It's a free choice, not an obligation. I do so daily because I said that I would unless I was knocked out cold and senseless.
If I take something from Nature, I leave something in exchange or thanks. Also, I silently light a candle and small stick of incense on my Lady shrine every morning simply to welcome the Divine, not in exchange for anything. I also pray for about 10-20 minutes of meditation. It's a pretty easy routine and non-stressful. It feeds my soul.
I top off a shot glass of moon-charged water as it is "consumed" by spirits of the Air in evaporation, and switch out a mini-potpourri dish of dry herbs, dried vege flakes or peas, flowers &/or grains with the new moon. This is a friendship offering for any who want to partake. The old is sprinkled outside. I don't make offerings specifically to my spirit guide as he has said he doesn't want them.

Re: Devotional Offerings, how often?
(Personal thoughts)
Easiest to consider by putting a different slant on the question. Devotion is the key word.
There are different reasons for buying my wife flowers or gifts - how often do I do it? Do I feel obliged to do it or because I wish to express love? Express gratitude? Express thanks? Apologise sincerely? To celebrate and recognise the significant and notable days in our lives. When I recognise what I love about her.
I may not buy her flowers everyday but I kiss her, hold her, help her - out of love, respect and care - maintaining that connection - show a daily level of commitment and affection. When we occasionally fall out we eventually work it out.
It is best to compare such things as spiritual devotion to a deity or such with all other aspects of your life - recognise they are not seperate things; each enhances the other.
Be blessed.
