Hello, a newbie here with questions!
So I have always been intrested in wicca/witchyness and the elements. Now that i decided to learn and study more about it i gave casting a circle a try and hoped to find my element (since i am a really indecisive and perfectionistic person i wanted to have a feeling that something would "click" with me if i would find my element).
I’d cast a circle and called forth the elements with the help of a bowl of water, a potted plant, a little candle and a feather as their symbols. I meditated with each of this objects for a long time hoping for som sort of reaction.With water and earth i felt zero but fire gave me glow emerging from my face and a warmth all over my body. It felt like i came home after a trip and i found my anchor in a storm. It made me almost cry from joy.
With that feeling fresh in my body i moved on to air to maybe find connection there. That didnt happen; on the contrary in fact. I felt a chill and the feeling of being chocked and total panic replaced the new found joy
i felt with fire.
After alle of this i fellt extremly drained of my energy and i fellt a strong connection with fire, wich was a suprise to me since i was born under the cancer sign and have always been drawn to water and hesitant with fire.
Now my questions;
1. Is fire my element?
2. Why did i get such a negative reaction with air? What does it mean?
3. Is it normal to feel drained after doing what i did?
Thanks in advance!
Elements and energy
Re: Elements and energy
I don't go off birth signs as they can often be wrong with what you feel is right. More often than not you should trust your gut feeling. I would say fire is your element, the air was choking because like a flame you need air to burn, without it you would become nothing. Possibly a reminder that although you have ur element you need others to exist. Doing anything magical can leave you feeling drained, the times it doesn't is generally when you have plenty of excess energy or have gone through preparations to lessen the drain on you

Re: Elements and energy
One way to prevent the energy drain that you felt might have been to balance the elements in between each attempt to know the individual elements, and again when you were done. That way its like a clean slate for each attampt. But it's water under the bridge now, heh heh.
Fire, in an enclosed container, would consume the air in the container, and snuff the flame. So the energy rush you had was snuffed, and you felt drained...like the fire went out. In a sense, the body is a container.
As to fire being "your" element, I have to confess I don't know why it appeals to people to name this. I had learned that we should strive for balance. I know I have a general affinity for earth -I'm nuts about rocks and gardening- and I have to work at not being a stick in the mud, immovable object. I balance by increasing air, not deminishing earth.
Incredibly fire and water tend to control each others tendency to overcome a person. So something as simple as taking a few sips of water after the fire-flush might also have counter acted the experience you had. I'm sadly out of my element here. (couldn't resist)
