Free will is the capacity of rational agents to choose a course of action from amongst assorted alternatives, according to the Stanford Philosophical Encyclopedia. Anything that impedes this capacity would then be against free will.

Are you doing a breakup spell on your own relationship with someone, or on other people's relationships? I would consider the latter against someone's free will. As for the former, it might depend on the circumstance, but for the most part I think everyone has the right to remove themselves from a romantic relationship cleanly and safely.

Having someone do anything that is not of their own devising or choice is dark.
Any of this is far more involved than lighting a candle and putting forth intentions. (Potentially dangerous, be careful of what you wish for)
